Half decent.....mate he was our best of the finals.Scored tries, set up tries, crucial defensive plays and all with a horribly bung shoulder.

I have been critical of Denes hands at times, but once he came ghood in that area he showed us that he is an absolute weapon.I would say his efforts in our semis was nothing short of sensational.

Mate couldn't agree more - he was one of our best consistantly during the finals and during the year he hardly put a foot/hand wrong.

He had confidence issues but by the looks of things he managed to overcome them in the finals and I'm certain he will have no problem slotting back into the top grade side when he is fit and ready to go

I can think of another player we signed from penrith who dominated in the lowers and turned out to be a huge flop - phil was one of his biggest fans too ;-)

Reynolds is a waste of space - he will never be a first grader and his only purpose is to waste a spot in the Balmain line-up that could be used by a player with potential.

My doubts still remain as to whether Marshall will live up to it.
Halatau has shown himself to be a half decent player with a good heart. Nothing fantastic but good effort shown. Will probably struggle to work his way back into the team if he is infact out for as long as predicted.

He helped a previously struggling club win a premiership in his first full season, he has already lived up to it.

Halatau's performances in the Finals were that of a player who is more then half decent. I agree his performance against Saints was not fantastic westie, apparently he got MOM but still but lets not get carried away, good effort shown though, but nothing fantastic, 6 out of 10 lets say :|

Perhaps if you were in charge westie Ben Jeffries and Ben Reynolds would of been our halves in 2005. Would of been an interesting season.

ROFL Nightingale, must be something about ex-panthers coming to the club

He is a better option at halfback than Nowland ever will be ;-)

pffft whatever you wanna believe

next you'll be trying to convince me that its right that he'll start in PL ahead of Caldwell

For the start of the year yes he should start ahead of a kid who is only 17 and missed the whole of last year out due to a knee injury regardless of the potential he has shown prior to that.

You yourself have said this numerous times that you don't know how he will handle himself or if he will be like he was before

You yourself have said that you think its best to start him in JF at the start of the year and don't want him rushed unless he is ready - how do we know if he is ready or not until he plays a bloody game?

If he comes back to how we know he can play then no he shouldn't

He sh*ts all over Reynolds and Prince IMO in the potential that he could offer the Wests Tigers in the long term and is why I have come out and said I only want Prince signed to a 2-3yr extension max and why I have even come out and suggested Caldwell could get a go in the top grade if players get injured this year or during the rep part of the season if Prince is selected for SOO

You know how highly I have always rated Caldwell and how highly I still rate him so don't spill of that bullsh*t

I know he'd still be better than Reynolds if he had only one leg and hadn't played for a decade

so would Jamie ;-)

Oh God, I was hoping you didn't mean Nightingale.

Yeah well he did play well in PL just like other forwards have like Asotasi, Rose, Simms to name a few have over the years who I wanted at the club after watching them develope through the junior grades

Just goes to show not everyone who can carve it up in PL has the dedication to make it to the next level no matter how much potential they show

and for the record I've said he WILL start in flegg (not should) and I'm ok (not happy) with that as long as he isn't there long.

If reynolds doesn't get injured within the first say 7 rounds I will expect to see him dropped.

Yeah just as much chance as a bunch of flying wombats being the new war weapon to assist in your world domination attempts :p

Why would Jefferies and Reynolds have a spot with the form we show now? They WOULD have had a spot when our halves were Fitzy and Withers. Your context is even worse than BB's.

Halatau played very well in the Dragons game. However - I was not struck by his stunning technique or skills. Rather the fact that he played at 100 miles an hour. I.e with heart. Hmmm I swear I said that an hour or two ago.

What BS!

You have said should all the time and you have also had doubts about if he will come back to his full potential and also said its doubtfull he will!

Alot of things can happen between now and then and you don't even know how Caldwell will return back from injury yet

If Reynolds performs and Nowland and Marando don't I wounder if you will expect them to be dropped and Nowland to be retained let alone if Cladwell doesn't perform if he should still be promoted - alot of if's but I hardly think you can call for a player to be dropped especially under the circumstances that have occured over the last 12mths without seeing a game being played especially after the limited amount of games you have seen over the last 2yrs!

Isn't choosing when to run, putting the foot down, pushing players off, scoring and setting up tries attributed to technique or skill that a player has?

Surley if a player had no skill he wouldn't be playing in the NRL yet alone shining in the finals performances which assisted to the Wests Tigers winning the compition?

Surley if a player didn't have a good technigue then he wouldn't be able to bust tackles, score individual tries, creat line breaks out of nothing?

Wesite please clarify what is defined as a technique or a skill!

Marshall, Farah, Fulton have skill.

Halatau getting onto a ball with effort and committment is a different story.

I don`t know what drugs some of you people are on, but:
Benji Marshall= already 1 of the best 3 players in the game. He`s a once in a generation footballer who is still a little raw and therefore still has plenty of improvement left in him.
Scott Prince= 1 of the best 5 halfbacks in the game. Always has been a talent, but his game has improved out of sight with the added responsibility he`s been given since signing with the Tigers. His hands and slight of hand are second to none.
Dene Halatau= possibly the most whole hearted player in the competition. Has the rare quality of hitting the ball at top speed almost everytime he touches it. Any doubting of Dene`s class was surely removed in his sensational finals series last season. He`s another who`s still young and still has further improvement in him.
Bryce Gibbs= very young for a permanent 1st grade prop. Like Halatau, Bryce was very up and down in his form until last seasons finals series where he really stepped up to the plate and confirmed what an outstanding emerging talent he is. Look for further improvement from Bryce this season.
Liam Fulton= he`s a natural footballer who already reads the play better than most. Has shown that he can be a tackling machine to go along with his pace and skill. He`s just another who should improve out of sight this season with the extra confidence and added bulk. Look for a huge season from Liam.
Bronson Harrison= a rare talent in his tackle busting ability. Being big, strong and fast is the catalist to be a very good footballer and once Bronson gains the confidence to exercise these skills and use a little more aggression on a more consistent basis, he will not be able to be excluded from our top 17. With a Kiwi tour now under his belt, i really do believe that Bronson will live up to his massive potential this season.

Actually westie, you called Halatau half decent. Not really much of a complement. Poor Dene is probably shattered that a such consummate judge of talent as yourself thinks he's only half decent.

Deadset mate. This is tedious. Please notice one thing though, EVERYONE disagrees with you.
