Well we do have some challenges to discuss. We have two upcoming Halfbacks in Townsend and Manumalealii. One is the Junior Kangaroo Halfback and Captain from 2011 and the other is the 2012 Junior Kiwi Halfback in 2012.

My own personal preference would be to see the club go back to the old system of promotion/ relegation in terms of NRL > NSW Cup > Toyota Cup rather than selecting a player to "fill in" from the top 25 squad.

It's a good question because we don't really have a legit 5/8 ready to go.

If Carney was unavailable for Round 1, I would play -

6. Manumalealii
7. Townsend

I have a gut feeling that Penani could be our break out man given the opportunity.

So I would play Townsend for structure and kicking and Penani for the "play in front of you" style of footy.

I am concerned that we don't have a specialized back up 6 though.

Also being Round 1 we can afford to take some early risks - nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Love the Chad but he's an out and out halfback when it's all said and done.

I'm struggling to justify Robson as a starter. At least till the others have been proven to be still not up to it.

I'd sell Gards to try and get Jennings. Also a few others could be given a thanks for coming and shown the door.

Im not sure where gards fits now at all... too small for anywhere but fullback as he isnt a half imo... wonder how he is training with everyone asking the same qns.

As much as I thought Robson was good last year, we have recruited brilliantly (experience and/or class) and I think this allows us to give the youngsters a run in the halves. If it doesn't work, bring Robbo back after 6 rounds to steady the ship.

Chad for mine with Robbo. If he's playing like shyte during the game we could always put Wadey boy there in absolute desperation (although shits would have to be total trumps for that to happen again) which would leave the standard benchies from last year.

Manumalealii is a good choice. He is a really good player from when I used to watch him in Toyota cup and I thought he was an out and out 6?

Has he put on much size?

Chad. He should be moved into the 7 throughout the year or he'll sign elsewhere by the mid way point of the season.

I don't mind Robson, he's the perfect foil for Carney and a classic, solid number 7, but he's got critical flaws in his game and lacks the class to take you blokes all the way.
