Starc will be there first test - no question as will Haze and Cummins IF ALL ARE FIT

Just hope and prayer Starc doesnt screw up the new ball like he did time and time again in our summer

Should be a cracker of a series. I reckon Smith is gonna be epic

If we leave Richardson out we are beyond dumb

Probably. But I'm not swallowing your shit about the Ashes already being lost.

Nothing wrong with being a realist. We haven't beaten them over there in f**king years, and this team is one of the weakest we've sent.

Can we win? Of course. Anything is possible. But the likelihood is not, so why not make a cultural change? It's not like OLED Davey is good enough over there to change the likely result. That's the point.

Shane Warne has called for Usman Khawaja and Mitchell Starc to be dropped for the first Ashes Test.

Khawaja was left out despite making a century in his last innings against Sri Lanka, while Marnus Labuschagne and Kurtis Patterson also make way in Warne's team, which he named in his Herald Sun column.

With David Warner and Steve Smith back, Warne named Joe Burns to open and either Marcus Harris or Cameron Bancroft to bat No.3. He left out Patterson to debut all-rounder Marcus Stoinis at No.6, while Starc was omitted for Jhye Richardson despite the left-armer's 10-wicket haul in his last Test against Sri Lanka.

"The first few overs have to set the tone, and he’s not doing that. He’s been taken off after two or three overs every innings because he’s been spraying the ball all over the place, plus he averages over 50 with the ball against top six batsmen," Warne wrote of Starc.

Of Khawaja, Warne wrote: "He has played a lot of Test cricket now, and he was our most experienced batsman this summer, we really needed him, and he went missing. Everyone is going to fail some times, and go through a lull, but it was the way he got out at times which was a huge concern. He tours England, but as backup."

Warne also wrote that BBL star D'Arcy Short should make the touring squad, with his left-arm wrist spin a backup to Nathan Lyon, on top of his powerful hitting.

I can see uzi stuggling to make the side.
Lol@ Short being included for his spin. Head can roll his arm over if the situation is that dire.

No, just no to Stoinis coming in to replace Patterson. Since coming in to the side all Patterson has done is make runs. He's earned spot for now at least.

Starc comes down to form and fitness I think.

That Lab doesn't make the cut isn't even a question. Could be an idea for him to get a county gig though. Good to have viable options and depth.

Can always count on Warnie for common sense

Can't ever have enough:
1. Victorians
2. Busy cricketers
3. Powerful hitting
4. Part-time bowling options
5. Strong body language

X factor,? it's the test side not the ODI or T/20, Stoinplod will probably make the squad, but should be nowhere near the starting 11 for the first test, Short just no, Harris at 3 no thanks, and the only way Bancroft goes is as back up keeper.

Lol Warne is such a pot plant.

Still driving the same agendas as he did in the box all summer I see.

Why do people even bother going to him for comment? Listen to the first game of the season, note down his agendas, and then run with them all summer. It's what he does, so why not save yourself the leg work?

This is why the plastic faced gimp should never be anywhere near a position of power in the CA setup nor should any of his mates, Brett Lee, Fleming etc

Ah yeah... of course. Toughest hundred runs ever.

See how goes in the shield and Australia A tour though.

Should apply to most of them

Who are 100% locks?

Paine, Lyon, Head, Cummins, Smith(if fit)

With confidence anyone else?

I can't fathom it. I was in a pub when a BBL game was on in January that he was calling and the group at the table next to us asked the bar to switch it from Fox to Seven because they liked the Seven commentary better.

It's not like LU is a little echochamber of people who don't like his commentary. Outside of bogan Victorians, nobody does. Both networks gave Clarke the arse, why didn't they do the same to him?
