Who's off Contract

Lest start making the list who do we have off contract this year and who is available in the market place, 2.5 months away we can buy up again, and get rid of some deadwood, No 1 on list to bu get Mat Rogers back and pronto, get rid of Bailey, some other club can suffer penalty after penalty, Nutley off contract good bye, Peachey off contract, looks at this one closely, as Rogers could be our fullback, and check how Simmons and Merritt progress, may be big call but may have to release, and who is floating about the other clubs, maybe Michael Witt released from Parra, or even Jamie Lyon, we should be closely monitoring this one

lyon is contracted to parra til end of 2006. if he ever returned to nrl i don't see him going to another team in sydney except eels, although he might feel more at home in a 'country' based team like knights or cowboys.

i think it's our 3/4s that need strengthening the most. and get rid of all the no impact back-rowers. but bailey and nutley can play, they just have to be disciplined by the coach /club /culture at the sharks.

I'd rather spend money keeping Aitken, Galloway and Newton.

Buy M.Rogers and retain Nutley on a reduced contract. Peachey can have another year or 2 as well.

SSB68,

I find it strange you would want to release Merritt & Simmons. Merritt by the way is not off contract this year. He has only played 40 minutes of football because of injury. You judged him on that? Simmons is still very young and will still make alot of mistakes but sooner rather than later he will truly blossom. A glimpse of that was last Saurday with a superb jump for our first try.

Yes Rogers should be a priority specially for his utility value in the backline.

I think we really need to look at someone to play hooker for us.

Dean Widders formally a hooker for the Roosters currently playing at Parra in the back row and off contract this season would be a great buy.

Also Aaron Gorell in the Saints Premier League side has great potential. Kicks goals quite well too. Has very little chance of getting past Riddell at hooker at Saints.

Someone also mentioned we were interested in the Warriors hooker Tevita Latu.

Anyway, we spent loads of money this year so I don't think there will be a huge spending spree this year. Especially if we pick up Matty again and chase a good hooker.

I think we should discuss these things closer to June 30 though when plenty of lists will be out and about.

Witty can play 5/8th too. He'd be a very good buy if released by the Eels.

Michael Witt is on a long term contract with the Parramatta Eels and is unlikely to be released as his contract is rumoured to be $60 000.

Glenn Morrison from the Cowboys is off-contract, one of your supporters came up after the game and when he was off-contract.

John Skandalis from the Wests Tigers, hard hitting underated prop.

Luke Burt from the Parramatta Eels is pretty good, would go pretty good on the wing for use guys. Can also goal kick pretty well.

Lance Hohaia from the New Zealand Warriors out of form at the moment but has a lot of potential as shown in 2002.

Andrew Ryan from the Bulldogs is a pretty good player, goes well in the second row.

John Morris from Parramatta who is pretty good out of dummy half and a great kicking game.

Nathan Cayless from Parramatta is a big bloke and can play either prop or in the second row.

True, but I'd love to buy Burt. Great goalkicker and dangerous running game.

If we want to buy a hooker, option 1 is Treister. Otherwise, Aaron Gorrell is a MUST. When given 1st Grade chances at the Saints he's played really, really well and is also a goalkicker. I'd go after him.

yep we need a decent hooker right now not next year, Bosnich is crap and sully is great off the bench and we've got a good one hanging round the beach on the dole just begging to play for next to nothing.....

Paul Stringer, currently with South Sydney and is off-contract at the end of 2004. A quality prop with a good work rate, solid in defence and is a strong runner of the ball. Big boy who play Country origin in 2002 and is out for another 8 weeks and would be a quality purchase.

Hazem El Masri- Currently the best goal kicker in the NRL, has improved in attack and defence in the off-season but really his strength lies in goal kicking.

Justin Smith- Currently with South Sydney and a hard working second rower who can also goal kick. Rumoured to have wanted to leave South Sydney in the off-season to return to St George Illawarra.

Adam MacDougall- Former Cronulla boy who is in pretty good form and is in excellent form right at the moment. Though boy who knows where the try line is. Doubt he will leave because his brother Luke is with him at Souths, still a slim chance.

Bryan Fletcher- Australian second-rower who is very big and hits the ball up hard and solid as a brick in defence.

There are only 2 people in the running for Paul Stringers contract.

They are Souths and the Central Coast.

That I can assure you.
