Why are we 3 & 5?

Let's get down to nitty gritty?

It has nothing to with missed tackle counts, lack of effort, missed goal kicks, kicking in general play or anything else I can think off.

The single biggest factor on why we are not winning more games is we are so ineffectual inside our opponents 20 metre zone. We simply cannot convert pressure and field position into points. We have no set plays, or certainly no plays that put any sort of pressure on the opposition defence.

The game v the Sharks on the weekend was simply another example where we had plenty of field position, opportunities but at the end of the day never really looked like scoring in the first half. The Sharks defence dealt with everything we threw at them easily and as a result we went in 8-0 down.

Honestly inside our opponents 20 our main play seems to be a pass out of dummy half to Sowie, who throws the inside ball back into Trent Merrin who then has dozen defenders to beat and not surprisingly he gets tackled despite his best efforts. (No criticism of Trent Merrin who has clearly been our best player this season)

We have attacking weapons, but inside the opposition 20, we simply don't use them effectively.

Things are not going to change until we are more ruthless, creative and put points on the board when we have field position.

You can talk about missed tackles till the cows come home but the biggest stat for mine is the fact we are the least effective side at scoring once inside the opposition 20.

As a Broncos supporter who put up with years of Griffin/Wallace I think I am pretty qualified to answer this question. The problem is Wallace. If he is out of the team you guys are a top 4 chance. He has absolute no creativity.

Obviously not having Griffin as coach could also work but that's a harder path to take

Te Maire Martin - fractured glenoid (shoulder). Displaced. Terrible injury, very painful & will require surgery Unfortunately out for season

Yeah just saw the TMM news.

A few weeks injury free and now we lose our best young half for the remainder of the season. Such a shame.

I can't remember word for word but Gus did predict this of our team in his video when opening the academy. It isn't so much a re-build but setting skills and resilience in the team.

That is a rare type of shoulder injury and is very bad. It is a fracture of the shoulder socket itself. Usually requires shoulder cut open, screws to hold bone back in place and a cast for a period to keep joint immobile. Afterwards require a lot of rehab.

Not unreasonable to think it might even affect his pre-season. It will take a while until he gets full strength back in his shoulder, and if anything needs to build his body up stronger anyway given his youth.

Really feel for the guy. Such terrible news.

Given how much advancement there has been in ACL treatment over the past 20 years, you'd rather have an ACL injury that TMM has suffered.

It would be very interesting to know what he predicted and how he predicted it.

It all comes down to the halves. A good halfback will get you home most times in a tight game. Soward & Wallace are past it.

Agreed, also if Soward could convert goals we actually wouldn't be 3 & 5.. also a big part comes down to the lineup imo.. which should look like this without injuries

1. Matt MOYLAN (c)
2. Josh MANSOUR
3. Dean WHARE
4. Waqa Blake (drop Hiku to cup) Blakes defense is much better.
5. Dallin WATENE-ZELEZNIAK
6. Te Maire Martin
7. Peter WALLACE (Should have been Soward and Wallace fighting for #7)
8. Sam Mckendry
9. James SEGEYARO
10. Reagan CAMPBELL-GILLARD
11. Bryce CARTWRIGHT
12. Elijah Taylor
13. Trent MERRIN

14. Tyrone PEACHEY
15. Jeremy LATIMORE
16. Isaah Yeo
17. James FISHER-HARRIS
20. Latu

The reason we are ineffective in the opposition 20 is that Wallace is too slow and Soward lacks the courage to take the line on. It's that simple. As Kilkenny said, our options seem to be the inside ball to Merrin or McKendry for a barge over or Peachey or Cartwright trying to crab across the field and hope for the best. We have the worst short kicking game in the NRL which means we get very few repeat sets to build pressure.

We need to run the ball on the last tackle more often. Particularly when we are 30 or so out. So many sides have looked dangerous running the ball on the final play of a set instead of just putting it in the air.

Also our decoy running is a joke. We need more bodies in motion and we need to have options and targets for the likes of Moylan Soward to hit. If we can't score points that way we may as well just go back to the offload-a-thon adlib play.

Yeah Soward and Wallace arnt creative in Attack at all... and something as a team I guess we are lacking is set plays

As long as Soward and Wallace give Cartwright, Moylan and Peachey the ball as much as they want we will be fine.

We sit 8th. only play 4 teams above us. 2 of them around SOO time there's no reason we can't come top 4 from here.
