Why did we sack Ando?

Don't want to live in the past but why did we sack Ando?

We had a bad year last year but we still played good football.

Anderson had a great relo with players and was well liked by most in the club. I think if he had that off season to recruit the players he wanted then we would be in a better position.

Im happy to give Kearney a go but really im wondering why we lost Anderson for a rookie coach with no experiance.

The board... they say it was because of him wanting an extension they had to sack him, or not making the 8, but anyone who believes that has about 3 braincells in their head. It was the board and their vendettas. Simple as that.

Man as much as i used to give Dennis Fitz heaps of sh*t for being a tool but ever since he got ousted sh*t has gone down hill.

I feel sorry for Anderson.

Im a massive fan of Daniel Anderson, but in fairness to the board I really dont think he was the right coach for the squad of players that we had. He needs a 'controlling' halfback to run his game plan....we dont have that, so he was not going to really achieve anything else this year

Didnt Osborne go interview SK in Melbourne when we where on the fringe of the 8, with still a shot at making the 8 ?

He was sacked well before we reached 13th

Exactly, DA indicated something like this to friends & others early in the 2009 season, that he had to watch out for his back. He knew there were knives waiting to stab him in the back but never knew when. He lost trust with management well before round 10.

Getting very boring seeing posts blaming the board the whole time for Anderson's sacking. While their have been ulterior motives Anderson has only himself to blame with the way the team performed last season.

As I said in the other thread, the official reason given was results...because we finished 12th.

Now if that's how we treat a coach who took us to a GF the year before and has won premierships in England, imagine what will happen to Kearney if we finish 12th or worse this year.

The board/CEO whoever it is who makes coaching decisions has set a dangerous precedent.

If that is the case, then why did Jack Gibson indicate success starts at the top/the back office?

very true

but if we finish close to bottom, it will give SK something to improve upon for 2012 :sarcasm:

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Anderson ask for an extension and if they wouldn't do it he'd rather walk now?

That's what the report told us but whether that is the actual truth or not is another matter. I'm certainly sure Ando has his own version of events.

The main issue at the moment isn't the back office, but more the bad habits that have become a major issue since Brian Smith left and not the retention & recruitment of players.

From what posts i have read of yours there seems to be an axe to grind at the current set up at any chance you get. Gets a little tiresome when most of the time it's issues that have no relevance.

Don't agree with your opinions.
Managing a large labour force working together successfully starts at the top.

There's no winning culture at the club simple as that. It's all negativity.

The rot has already started & well set in before the current leadership was entrenched. It's pretty fool heartedly to think the club is where it is from the current set up alone.

So far this year it's been good because of the fact nothing has been really said or heard from them in the media which was a major issue last year.
