Why do you guys hate Blair so much?

I just don't understand why you hate him so much?

I have pretty much watched all Tigers games this season and I can't really say he has been shocking he has done his required set out by sheens be it either prop or 2nd rower.

He is more of an attacking type player that will run lines and through holes not a guy like fensom that will make 50 tackles and 25 hit ups a week.

I have actually seen him run some good balls of benji this year and it does not help him when he has different halves around him every week as well.

He was great at storm running off guys like slater, cronk and smith but you can not expect him to do same thing at tigers when the quality of the spine is not that great.

I consider Blair to be more of a T Rex type of player but he does not have the spine around him to make him look good he will never make those tackles and hit ups you guys want he is not that type of player.

80 mins of bludge week in week out.
His work rate is less than Matt Utai so what's that tell you for a 500k a year salary?

He would make a terrific kings cross bouncer with his choke holds.

I think you partly answered your own question. Blair is coached differently at the Tigers than he was at Melbourne. I believe he would still be a better player at Storm, the Dogs or Manly. IMO it comes down to the respect players have for their coaches. If you bludge on them, I believe it shows contempt, if you fully commit to your coach you will play better for them.

This may be just opinion but I apply it to myself, if I respected a coach who in turn respected me, I tried harder for them. It didn't matter what sport I was playing. I think this is the whole argument with Tigers supporters and Sheens. The team have been together too long and Sheens can no longer control them. Hasler or Bellamy would have benched Blair long before now. If it is true the players are laughing and joking at training, well it could be said there is just no commitment at all.

The whole Tigers outfit really needs a new coach to bring them back on track or to bring the best out of them. I don't care who, but I'd like a coach that demands and expects respect.

I am pissed the Tigers have done so bad this year and I know there are many factors that have impacted on them but I feel the team is stale with no fresh ideas, no focus on having players picked in proper positions and sadly no forward planning for buying a half back.

Blair, while he has been spoken about a lot is not necessarily to whole blame, nor necessarily hated, he is a product of Sheens and Tigers management as a whole....

T Rex breaks more tackles in one game then Blair did for the whole season.

This is just the thing, what sort of player is he?

Clearly he is not a Fensom style worker.
He doesn't do damaging hit ups on the fringes like a T Rex or Pritchard.
He doesn't hit holes like Fulton.
He doesn't do hard running kamikaze hit ups.

The only way I can see Blair turning around his career at the Tigers is through a really high volume of offloads. And I'm talking Mateo style, he needs to be offloading 80-90% of his runs. I know he has it in him. He does the one handed basketball carry like Mateo. He's strong enough to stand in the tackle and get an arm free. So perhaps he is being coached not to offload?

This to me is the issue. He is a middling sort of role player.

Blair will never do this.

I don't think he will do this either.

I thought last week he played well but that is basically the best you can get out of the guy and it is so far from helping the team get a win it isn't funny.

My issue is that he isn't someone who can give us an edge. Ellis for instance was awesome from the moment he got here. Ellis has had a couple of dud games the whole time he was here and those games were better than basically every game that Blair has played.

I don't hate Blair I just think he was a waste of money.

What he does do is try and put a failed shoulder charge in each week which wil lead to a try. He will also give a stupid penalty away each week which will lead to a try. He can f*ck off ASAP along with Sheens

Maybe we expect too much from Blair, like an honest 80 minutes work per week in return for a sh*tload of cash...(stated with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek). In reality I never expected him to be a superstar, after watching his efforts for Melbourne last year IMO the best thing he did all year was smack Glenn Stewart in the chops at Brookie........BUT I did expect 100% effort which is all you ask of anyone

We have got 100% effort boys. 5% from Blair, 15% from Marshall, 0.1% from Timid, 3% from Ayshford. We'd surely get to 100 wouldn't we ??

Blair's only value is at prop. It's the only way to get anything productive out of him.
What a waste of 500K - for a prop third in our rotation.

The problem is that like you state there are 2 front rowers in our team much better than him.

I think you have to play him as a backrower and aim to get minimal minutes out of him.

I think he has had some struggles but is a better player then many on here make out and I think his effort has been great just not always his execution this year. If you want to look at a similar player (with very similar stats as well) then Blair is a lot like Anthony watmough

Blair v watmough
Games - 22 v 23
Tries 3 v 3
Line breaks - 4 v 2
Penalties given away - 18 v 19
Missed tackles per game - 3.2 v 3.4
Errors -14 v 12
Tackles - 26 v 31
Hit ups - 10 v 13

So yes watmoughs stats are slightly better in workload but similar players ESP given the form of the players around watmough being better. Am I happy with Blair no , do I see that he does a lot of little things well -yes ( because I watch a lot of football) I see that he always gets quick play the balls, always slows down the opposition play the ball, is always leading the chase , is always doing what the coaches and commentators call the 1 per centers. However with his workload it hasn't got worse then at Melbourne so why is this a surprise ( or don't you watch much football). He will be better next year with longer in the team and structure and hopefully he puts back on some more weight
