watching nrl on premier over here in uk a big difference seems to be the way the supporters get behind the team- over here theres a lot of mass singing and chanting etc where huge parts of the crowd join in, is it just a culture thing? nrl crowds seem very subdued

Why don't Tongans listen to Ayigbe Edem? He's real popular out here in Ghana but I couldn't help but notice that not many Tongans seem to rate him.

Its a valid question.

I travelled over to the Knights vs Warriors game at Newy…

Their chant… New-Castle *clap clap clap New-Castle *clap clap clap…

The Warriors chant at home… Warr-iors * clap clap clap Warr-iors * clap clap clap

Are Australian and NZ supporters really that unimaginative ?

Lol a genuine question just gets trolled not once but thrice

They didn't understand the question but decided to post about something they don't understand due to personal issues. One even posted an old picture because he is double hard.

Best just ignore them and carry on.

Like you do to the miserable sods at a game. Chant away dude, if it upsets someone you are doing it right!!

Nothing to sing about at the Broncos.
No cheering, no singing, no chanting. 5 hits and a kick.
That could be our new chant. Hey thaiday, give ussssss five hits ups and a kick, along with a spoonful of medicine makes the broncos go round.
Another good chant for for the Broncos could be the "Pub-team with no beer".
Anyone got a rocket.

They're too busy on their phones or chatting to their mates. Fans here are just not as engaged in the game and results don't mean as much generally. Probably part of the more casual approach to life but I find that english fans take the whole thing more to heart. The highs of winning are higher and the lows of losing lower.

Every time this question is brought up, the usual excuse of "because our fans are too engrossed and enthralled in the action on the field" is brought up. It's not that; check up the ESL. It's a mix of Australian culture, NRL culture, and how the sport is played.

* There isn't too much to cheer and chant about when most teams play conservatively like robots
* NRL clubs don't have a strong culture and connection to their fans: There aren't any really solid songs and chants that NRL fans, of their respective clubs, widely identify with. In contrast, once again, see the ESL.

That simply isn't true

the bolded bit is rubbish because there are some absolute dogshite periods in english football where fans will start singing just to find some entertainment.

but the rest is correct, rugby league in australia is still evolving right now with club supporter engagement with the focus now on memberships etc.... it will eventually bring fans closer together in how they want to demonstrate their support for their team. the legacy of chanting in english football comes from times when fans cheered from the terraces, this obviously isn't relevant today so nrl fans may never embrace chanting the way english football fans do, it's not the only way to be entertained.
