Can you explain why you would follow rugby union (yawnion) when you can follow a far more superior game in soccer. I mean if you compare international rugby to that of soccer, it just makes rugby looks sh*t. Just to prove how sh*t it is compared to soccer, out of 236 countries there are only 7 countries were rugby union can be officially labeled as more popular than soccer that is:
1. Australia
2. New Zealand
3. Fiji
4. Western Samoa
5. Tonga
6. Cook Islands
7. Nieu Islands
And if you thought South Africa was a rugby mad nation think again. Soccer is by far the most played sport in South Africa, especially among the black majority. While rugby union is the most popular among the white minority. Not to mention that they will host the 2010 FIFA World Cup, expect the gap between soccer and rugby union to blow out even more. I will also state that soccer will emerge as a more popular football brand in Australia than rugby union. It already emerge as a more popular brand in terms of participation.
And did you know that Wales is part of the United Kingdom. Even if Rugby Union is more popular than soccer in Wales, Soccer is the number 1 sport in Scotland, Northern Ireland and England.
