Why Gasnier Wont Play Origin

He is probably along with Hodges the best attacking centre in the game, as he showed today when he finally got some ball but his defence as times is questionable

He is big and strong in defence but i feel has problem reading the play and does not know which man to take

I used to think his problems last year, stemmed from having to cover Willie Peters and that this year he would be fine - but he has the same problems

He comes in on the wrong man and comes in when he doesn't have to (Naiquama has same problem in PL). He may only make 3-4 bad decisions in defence a game but in such a vital position its killing us

The first two tries were through Gasnier making mistakes in defence

Thats why he was left out of Origin Squad and despite how well he plays on Friday Night will not play Origin and to me probably fair enough decision - same reason Gidley shouldn't play vunerable in defence

There were 2 players who will expose Gasnier and one is NSW Half the other is the QLD fullback.

I am not here to bag Gsnier just stating the facts - he was electric in attack but i think the coaching staff need to do some work - Mary should do some private sesions!

The problem with Gasnier's defence must be the most frustrating thing for his coaches over the years. All that seems to happen is that when he sees a guy in front of him with the ball he goes for him flat out, which means he rushes up out of the line and leaves a huge gap most times. I suppose he has been told a million times that he has to judge his moment to commit to a tackle and not just go for it, but he can't seem to learn. Part of the problem is that he is so damn quick off the mark that the rest of the defencive line couldn't keep up with him if they wanted to.
