Why the Panic!

I'm really not that surprised with our recent poor form and losses. I was more surprised that we were actually firing early in the season and were in the top 4!
If you go back 12 months ago, the names Widdop, Lafai & McGreggor would have been expected to not being re-signed. How wrong was that....they all got deals & turned back to shit.
One would have expected both Dugan & Packer would have been the first two players to be re-signed, yet they are left go by the pathways gardener.
It's all arse about shit in Dragonworld and the old boys brigade.

Well I believe that the best way to explain my disappointment in the teams performance over the last couple of months , is to say that I can see season 2016 all over again .
And believe me when I say that it makes this old bersterd simply bluudy furious knowing just how slim our chances are of getting into the final eight , I am so pussed-offed ! !

How can u reach the level of the storm when they boast the best coach in the NRL
Cronk
Slater
Smith and co
Bromwich

Look at their cattle then look at ours.. Worlds apart
Look at their TPA sponsorship and the way it is setup and you have your answer. No TPA, no dominance.

The NRL needs to act as a matter of urgency. Take over all TPA arrangements.
Only the NRL and player managers to be involved. Otherwise the NRL competition will impload.

i don't understand this forum sometimes - whenever the Dragons play ordinary or suffer a loss or two - mass panic sets in.

I hope people saw Storm dismantle Broncos last night by 30 points in BRISBANE and today Sharks smash Roosters by 30 points as well - or someone even looking at the early premiership favourites CANBERRA going through paces atm - if we were beaten by the above scores by either team or were even travelling as bad as CANBERRA this forum would melt down !

What I'm saying is to look at our season in a practical sense ! We have a modest roster with a solid forward pack and at this stage the team is sitting comfortably in the top 8.. Yes the team sometimes lacks consistency but that' has more to do with injuries and a shallow roster especially in key positions such as the halves..

Everyone needs to settle down and let the team go through its paces - by making the top 8 this year will be a great achievement for a team everyone had finishing in the last 2 positions.

Have confidence in the Team that proved early on how great they could be - I would be worried if we hadn't demonstrated any sort of form but we as supporters know what the teams capabilities are and hence all the frustration..

Enjoy the rollercoaster its a free ride BUT if u can't handle it - then get off the ride!

As we are all PASSIONATE DRAGON FANS WE EXPECT ( DEMAND SUCCESS) Therefore we hate the scenario the way the team is performing . AS a supporter of 50 years Ive ridden the bloody roller coaster way too many times BUT I will never get off it and every so often we taste success.
A lot of this so called mass panic is frustration at the way the team plays so re read line 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the level of frustration on this forum this season IS because they have shown us early on what the team is capable of producing!

But the way they have played over the last couple of months, not just the last one or two losses, IS cause for concern!

This is a forum after all...
Yeah but it's never concern being shown and always the sky is falling

After last nights debacle, I told Ethel that I was going to break out the home brew that has been fermenting away for the best part of a month now . Naturally she had a go at me and said that if I wanted to end up in hospital again , not to expect her to call the ambulance . I tell you there are times when a man is driven to drink . :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

There is no room for common sense on the forum so don't go expecting it to happen any time soon Mickeylane.

This forum is the squeaky wheel, the noisy 1%, the crazy ranting homeless guy banging on about conspiracy theories in the park(love your work old timer ;) )

If I had $1 for every threat of strikes/walkouts/handing in memberships, that all come to nothing.

Win 2 games and we are world beaters, lose 2 games and we are bums. Half the squad would have their contracts torn up every 3-4 weeks if this forum was in charge.....oh and Kurt Mann would be halfback because 10 years ago he played there in u15's (wait......that already happened)

The cold hard truth is that we are still performing well above where we should be. Without a halfback this team will never be successful or consistent. And the club's strategy seems to be to not sign a halfback for 2017 to grab a good one for 2018. And it worked.

This year was always going to be a struggle and we have performed well above expectation imo. Happy to sit back and see where we run from here. The year may continue to go pear shaped but I saw enough in the early part of the season to suggest that a quality halfback will have them firing next year.

Mickeylane and Borat

there is no panic, only disappointment at the lack of consistency as we head to the championship rounds.

The team started the season with determination & discipline playing a good brand of footy.

As the season progresses most teams improve their performance and show a genuine desire to win.

Our forward pack is not middle of the road.

Our backs are below average.

We lack real speed across the backline at the moment.

A first class coach would have us in the top 4.

Our mob seems to think it will be in the 8 come finals time. If the team played with the same intensity and commitment it did in the first half of the season none of us would be disappointed/concerned with losing.

Those of us who supported St.George many years ago find it difficult to swallow the mediocre performances of the past 9 weeks.

We can cope with losing. We can't cope with mediocrity.

I don't apologise for expecting/demanding excellence from our team. The day we stop demanding excellence we will become Newcastle or the Tigers.

to cut a long story short & save our time why not post what you really mean?

"i rubbed jowls' foreskin when we won some early games & swallowed when he got re-signed. now i have to justify it."

You would have thought that the second half cornerback against the knights could have been the catalyst to really get their season back on track bnot to be.

more often than not, get out of jail / houdini acts are followed by a loss.

those wins mask the cracks.

or in this case, the coach.

What the f**k are you talking about you self wedgied delusional drop kick.
I was never on board after 2 wins nor were many others as it was evident that it would turn to shit but others talked it up and pressed hard against people who knew it for what it was.
You obviously have no understanding of the recurring pattern that exists within each season, which is a few wins to shut people up and a heap of losses which will all be explained away with the gullible lapping it up.
The common sense is understanding it for what it really is and making a statement that it is not acceptable which you, Mickeylane and others just cant come to terms with.
You say we are performing above where we should be what were your expectations and I don't mean those that were offered by the media but your own?
Set low expectations so they are easy to exceed?
Of course you are happy to sit back and see where it goes because you really don't give a f**k and don't have a pro active bone in your body and are more than accepting of the scraps that are offered.
With the squad we have accounting for those that are leaving please indulge us with your thoughts why Hunt is going to get this roster "firing" as you call it?

Not panicking, just the sad realisation that this Groundhog Day of a football team will never change, promise so much and deliver so little.

I was saying to a mate today, it would be better to be a Newcastle supporter, at least you know they suck every week and don't give you false hope for a few games that they actually don't.

Currently 20 pts.
Bye - 2 pts.
Raiders away ?
SeaEagles home ?
Knights away ?
Rabbits home ( SCG ) ?
Titans home ?
Broncos away ?
Panthers away ?
Bullgrubs home ?

Total points ? ?

Mickey , the Dragons shall require at the very least 3 wins to make the final eight , perhaps even 4 . Which of our remaining games do you believe that the team will win ? I am merely being realistic about the total number points that we shall accumulate in the coming weeks .
