Given all the negativity surrounding the game I thought it was time we got some positive talk flowing again.

So how about we start a thread listing all the things we each love about Rugby League?

I'll let someone else go first:

Its the most honest game going around.

I only began to understand why it is the most honest game, but out on a rugby league feild, there is no where to hide. It shows what kind of person you are deep down.

Having a team of my own, have no interest in nbl so if it wasnt for the cowboys, being from nth qld would be pretty dull sportswise. Got the fury now to keep me entertained through the summer. I love having something i can be proud about where i am from that i can watch every week and of course state of origin, no other rivalry in the sporting world matches up to it

SOO, no where to hide, etc

Plus you make it at League you have Pootang throwing itself at you from all directions. So much fine arse to choose from.

Isn't the word "poontang"?

Poo-tang conjures up an alternate meaning... not that there's anything wrong with that. ;-)

On a more serious note, I have had numerous cuts to the head, snapped shoulder blade in half, torn ligaments in ankles a few times, chipped tooth, hyperextended elbow, dislocated and broken fingers, snapped ligament in finger so it is permanently bent etc etc. 31 and still playing and love every minute of it and whilse body is starting to get aches and pains caused by the injuries, these remind me of what a great time I have had playing. Some of best memories I have ever had involve Rugby League. Mixed with people I would never have associated with unless I played. It is one of lifes great levellers. Nothing better then walking out to war with mates at the side. I can't describe it but AFL and Union just lack something. I have played a bit of Union and there was something missing. These do gooders that are trying to ruin game can all go and get f*cked. Once a young bloke gets a taste of league they are hooked for life. People talk about reconciliation etc, get everyone playing footy and watch how things improve. You put blacks and whites in the same jersey and thats all that matters too them. They don't care what colour a persons skin is or where they come from, all that matters is that they have the same jumper as you and it makes them your brother.

What do they say, if in snooker the pink is blocked by the red then pot the brown.

Family hole or the fun hole.

:clap::clap:

I like it, your dead right.

There is something profound about walking out against tough opposition and be willing to bleed for the bloke beside you. It goes way past sport, it is something primal and it does not matter about color race or any other of society's barriers, its about your mates, and that lasts a lifetime.

I have been in to large corporate functions and some of the roughest Bikie clubs in Australia, and found people i have played with or against, and even now years after finishing football, the same respect flows from one player to the other as an unspoken bond.
