Why were people bagging Elford??

For mine he played decent, looked dangerous everytime he got it with his big frame and is a hard hitting defender

With decent ball (ie -more ball!!) i think he could become a potent weapon

How long is he contracted for??, hes been a very good buy in my opinion

Hes very hot and cold for mine. Looks very ordinary when hes ordinary, but somehow for me his ordinary performances stand out more than his good work.
A bit like Fitzhenry.

He has had a few lapses, especially with drop balls a few times this season, but i think he's been awesome for us, im certainly not gonna have a swipe at him because he dropped the ball.

I think defensively he has got some problems..

I would prefer to see him on the wing....

Also, he's not as quick as I had heard .. (although compared to Covell he is Maurice Greene.)

He had a mistake riddled game on saturday - and like Reynolds struggles to find the consistency required for regular 1st grade - despite being a talented footballer!!

His handling was abyssmal at stages against the Storm - where at other times it has been sharp!!

Consistency is the key!

I think Elford`s been going great.Atleast he`s prepared to hit the ball at pace every time he touches it and I haven`t seen him solely responsible for many if any tries scored against us!Also, anyone who cares to watch closely will realise that opposition teams fear Elford. They usually have two men making the tackle on him unlike a lot of other players in our side who are easy pickings one on one!

still missing heaps of tackles, especially when buckets is off the field.

actually our whole defensive gate becomes wide open when buckets is replaced.

Our defence also softened in the middle of the ruck against Melbourne with Senter off and Mears proving extremely ineffective against the big Storm forwards!

Buckets only plays and defends on the right hand side.It wasn`t just the right hand side where inroads and breaks were being made on Saturday night. If you watch closely Sattler and Laffranchi are the only full on committed defenders we have!

Vicious - you've just made a goose of yourself!!!

Satts and Boof the only committed defenders we have??????

No matter what disregard you hold for Buckets attacking play - noone but a moron can f**k with his defence!!!

He is both our most effective tackler (beating Satts by a long margin) and our highest work-rate defender (alongside Satts - but on still no. 1 especially relative to the amount of time spent on the field)!!

He is our defensive captain - and without him we do struggle!!

As for breaks being made elsewhere than his side when missing - you are right - they also routinely happened down the middle through Mears when Daz was missing!!!

On this occasion i`m not bagging him,but you will find that if you check back through the stats and it`s also noticeable when watching that Sattler and Boof are our top two defenders impact wise, number of tackles made and the effort they make to get to a tackle!!!
Once, maybe twice all season has he made more tackles than Satts,so check it out dopey!

A basic comparison of Buckets and Satts work-rates would be to compare 55 minutes on the field with 30 tackles to 80 minutes for 36 tackles!!!

Who has the highest work rate???? Buckets - by a relatively small margin!!

But in terms of effectiveness - compare 1 to 2 tackles missed out of 30 on average for Buckets to 3 to 5 tackles out of 35 for Satts!!!

Buckets is well on top in terms of effective tackles!!!

How the f**k do you come to that coclusion???Your stats are not an average of the whole season.Watch how much territory Satts covers in defence.Positional play has a lot to do with it,but NO ONE works harder in defence than Satts,I can assure you of that.Laffranchi comes a close second, than probably Buckets!!!

Firstly of all,the only way he would hit the ball at pace is if he drove over it with a car. And the only people that would fear him would be the kids in the ghost train at Luna Park! ;-)

Tell me what centres that have played this year and since the Wests Tigers existence for that matter, have ran onto the ball harder than Elford?

One thing I think everyone should realise is that players who do hit the ball at pace often drop the ball more often than those who run like the tooth fairy!
