Widnes-Castleford Match Summary

Widnes 6 Castleford 7

Attendance:7,005

Highlights:
-It wasn't pretty, but we won. We had a crucial 10 minute spell where we got on top.
-The referee. Thats two weeks in a row I've included the ref as a highlight. Widnes fans may disagree, but I thought most of his decisions were spot on. He was consistent as well-Like when Brad Davis was taken out after a kick, the ref didn't do anything. Then when Stephen Myler was taken out after a kick by Lee Harland I believe, again he didn't do anything.

Lowlights:
-We made it hard for ourselves. To be honest, we played better against Salford (and lost!) but I'd rather play poor and win, than play well and lose.
-The result doesn't exactly do wonders for our points difference. Still, we won and thats all that matters right now.

Estimated Cas Fans: Not entirely sure about this. The stand we were in held 3,000. I'd say we half filled it (1500), but others say we had around 1000 there. So I'll go with 1000-1100.

How were the Cas Fans? We did our best to get behind the team, and I thought we came across as pretty loud. The celebrations at the end were unbelieveable. Me thinks this Saturday will surpass this game in terms oif emotion.

Comedy Moment: Again, I can't think of one. I was too nervous to look for anything funny.

In a nutshell: I don't think Hull will beat Widnes by as many as some people think. I think Hull will win by 6-8 points, meaning we have to win by 14-16 points. Can we do it? Well, we need to show the kind of form we did against Hull. It will be tough, but we need every player to have the game of their lives.
It should be a good crowd on Saturday, around 7-8000 from Cas, 1000 from Wakey, a few neutrals, and both of Featherstone's fans are apparently coming down.
It's a shame the game had to be moved to the Saturday, as I'd already made plans-I was hoping to meet Mick Jones of The Clash (a case of someone who knows someone who can get us backstage). I won't be bothered if we stay up though :)
So don't let me, and the rest of the Castleford faithful down.

Please note these are my views and not those of the supporters club

I'm praying like mad that Cas stay up but one thing that worries me is that Hull have lot's of injuries to key players in their match v Widnes.

I think Cas will beat Wakey, just hope Hull can bt Wids.

Good luck

And Saints are taking the pi$$ again by putting out the second string to play Bradford, which means Hull will have nothing to play for.
