After noticing Adam Dykes was a rumoured signing for us. I looked him up in Wikipedia to see how old he was.

(32) by the way.

After all the usual info, this is what I found.

Adam Dykes is actually a pretty good player and could be just what we need. Just a solid, hardworking half. He's had injury problems and bad luck but if we can get lucky (and we are definitely due) he could be very useful.

He has an average attacking kicking game and a below average (for a half) general play kicking game. Yes he was decent with ball in hand but do we really need a 32 year old coming off serious injury problems?

I'd say yes. We do need a 32 year old coming off serious injury problems for next to nothing cash wise who might actually help us out. It's not like he will get a second year deal or anything. See how he goes.

What is the point of signing him unless Teflon is prepared to actually play him- his favourites are Marshall & Morris- unless he is prepared to back down on one of these WT will be left with the same situation they were in last year with Head- immaterial of what benefit he could have brought the team Sheens would not play him unless forced to.

WT need an leader, organiser and distributor of the ball in the 1/2 & 5/8 roles- Marshall and Morris are not the answer but who can force Teflon to try others??????

I ask the question - where did the recruitment action of Dykes come from? Was it McDonnell signing literally anyone he could get or was it McDonnell signing Dykes as a capable halves backup on Sheens instigation?

WT already have ample players allbeit young players recruited this year or promted from within capable of playing 1/2 or 5/8- why recruit another?

AND

Where does that leave WT and their CEO (Longmuir's) declaration in late last year that their final spot was to be a prop?

Not that we know yet, but I'm assuming the signing- if it comes through- will only be for the rest of 09- then we can have the draw out thing like Head's re-signing or not all over again.

No wonder players dont want to come to WT.

Dykes is a 5/8th not a half,yes he hasn't played NRL in 3 years,but neither has Barrett,or Stacey Jones.
He may be a dud,but he would be better at 6 than Morris,and he would be cheap,so I say give it a try sooner rather than later.
