And yet they have allowed Ipswich to use the name for 25 years. And now when there is a possibility that Ipswich will get an NRL franchise they want to take their bat and ball home?

I would have thought after page upon page of discussion you may have picked up on the fact that this is a hypothetical scenario.

Newtown have not once indicated they object to Ipswich's bid using the Jets moniker. Glossing over this basic premise, how can anyone take you seriously ?

Does the Ipswich Jets get in the way of the Newtown Jets currently? No they don't so good on the Jets let another team in another competition in another state use the name. Now the Ipswich Jets using that name in a national competition will affect the Newtown Jets in merchandise etc.

Newtown hold trademearks on their logo and so it wont be a problem in that regard, however the Newtown Jets gave 70% of their logo rights up and only receive 30% of the profits from the logo. They gave it up for nothing to boot. so if anyone were to take action it would be the owners of that company anyway.

That's good news and very sensible of them.

I still think that if the Cronulla Sharks can stop the new GC AFL form using the name 'Sharks' and the Recliffe Dolphins can stop the GC NRL team from using the name 'Dolphins' then regardless of anything the Newtown Jets will stop Ipswich of using the name 'Jets', although it is a moot point as we have a good 7-10 years before Ipswich will come close to be entering the NRL.

What about Newcastle Jets? any objection there?

If Ipswich get in, they have a legitimate claim to the name. Its not like they will be the first team to use this name.

How about Newtowns use of the NY Jets logo and name? See how rediculous this arguement is?

In answer to the thread title, no, Ipswich will use the name Jets if they want to.

We already answer this question a few pages ago. And somebody who knows his legal stuff about trademarks proved you wrong.

Newcastle has a copyright in this country specific to Soccer.
If Ipswich get in, they have a legitimate claim to the name.
No they don't. Newtown has the copyright, Ipswich has no claim.
Its not like they will be the first team to use this name.
That's irrelevant. Newtown has the copyright for the "Jets" name when it comes to rugby league in this country. That is relevant.

How about Newtowns use of the NY Jets logo and name? See how rediculous this arguement is?
So your comparing two organisations who play two different sports on two different continents with two organisations who play the same sport in the same country. See how "rediculous" this argument is?

In answer to the thread title, no, Ipswich will use the name Jets if they want to.
Wrong again. If Ipswich is allowed into the NRL at some point, it will be not be as the "Jets".

It is true that Newtown have copied the NY Jets logo with slight differences but have also taken out TM applications of which the NY Jets were aware and have not had an issue with the use of the N was a bigger issue as New Balance have it as a trademark and the Newtown N is in a shield is ok. The original logo was simply an N on the jersey bit cannot be used again due to New Balance, hence when it was changed to add the shield that was deemed ok.
Newtown faced a bigger issue with the name of the Jets from a swimwear firm and the deal is that Newtown cannot produce any merchandise for swimwear bearing that name.Hence if Ipswich came in I would persoanlly doubt it would be in Newtown interests financially or otherwise to protest the name even if it is in the same code. I doubt if the club could afford it but we so have a trademarks and I think it would be up to Fair Trading to work out if there is any breach of the law.
The thing is though why are people getting so worked up about something that may never happen anyway.

Wrong again. GC AFL and GC NRL had no name. Ipswich have had the name Jets for 25 years.

WRONG

Ipswich Jets (QRL team) have had the name, not the potential Ipswich NRL club. If they get in they will start off with Zero records, zero premierships and wooden spoons. Therefore different to the team their original come from.

You don't seem to get it. Who is bidding for an NRL franchise? The Ipswich Jets.

Yeah the JETS who came from the QCup yet want to enter a competition where the Newtown Jets have already existed. Unlike the CCBEARS who have ties with the North Sydney Bears.. Ipswich Jets have nothing to do with Newtown.

The same Newtown Jets who have retro merchandise available from the NRL. Much like Norths, Wests, St George & Balmain. The same Newtown Jets who are in the history books of the NRL as past premiers. The same Newtown Jets who were the first rugby league club in Australia..
