Was that how it was in 1965? 20 Years after WW2 or are you talking about today, 75 Years after the war?

Hardly the same.....
It's more like if you don't get over it, your future prospects are less. Ruby league would have to be i the top seven sports for TV/media income world-wide on a per capita basis, properly in the top 12 overall. If Rupert didn't exist we have too invent him- otherwise where would the millions or billions ($ 1.8 billion) over the course of the current contract come from. Got a better ($) payer, let us know and I'll forward pass it too league central.

9Now is competing with Telstra customers for viewership. A person with a Telstra subscription would prefer to watch any game ad free on their mobile while riding the bus than go to the 9News app that's full of ads. From 2023 this won't be a a problem for the FTA broadcaster. They'll either have to subscribe to Kayo to get all 8 games or rely on the FTA streaming service. It's a win for Kayo and the FTA broadcaster.

at a cost to the game in revenue and fans in better free coverage

Everyone understands the current situation....it is the length of the deal that is the objection.

We would have been fine....they need us more then we need them.

Why do you think they drove smith etc out of the game.

Did the ARLC get the money from Telstra or was it paid to Foxtel, as they on sold the rights?

When Dave Smith signed the Ch9 deal that made Rupes shit his nappy and chuck his dummy across his bedroom, they ended up selling the Saturday game and simulcast rights to Foxtel. Ch9 thought they hoodwinked everyone, but ended up losing money and chucking a tanty when COVID-19 hit because their simulcast deal cost them viewership.

On sold by foxtel but nrl got $100mill for that part of the agreement from Fox/telstra. All tied up in telstra S 35% ownership of fox.
that would have boosted fox’s offer to nrl, same way Ch9 agreed to a massive $185mill a year deal as they knew they could recoup $60mill a year back from fox. Ch9 actually got a very decent deal @ a real cost of $125mill a year they ended up paying. Hate to see what they’ve wormed it down to after their dummy spit and forced sacking of Greenberg who was playing hard ball with them.

“The deal stipulates that Foxtel is prohibited from selling on the digital rights for the new cycle, having previously been entitled to as part of a five-year, AUD$100 million (US$69 million) agreement.”

Hardly the same.....

So you'll come around in 2072?

One was a 6 year war that cost 75 million lives. The other was rich guys fighting over a product which saw footballers get stupid money and a split comp for a season.

Hardly the same.....

Release what the NRL got for TV deals now Foxtel and the AFL have agreed an extension until 2024.

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/afl/af...adcast-deal-by-two-years-20201223-p56prx.html
I wonder what the AFL got for thier deal ( years 2023-2024), do you have any figures.
Also did you see Vlandy kick rugga in the balls when the sheer weight of his personality made 'sky' pull their broadcast for pubs and clubs. Good-on -you Vlandy make nine stew in their own shit.
SMH-
"Equally, Tabcorp officials were concerned that Racing NSW chief executive Peter V’landys, a key partner of the wagering giant, had not been consulted prior to the deal being brokered.

Industry sources say V’landys, who is also the chairman of the Australian Rugby League Commission, had not vetoed the deal. However, they say he was unhappy about Sky Channel’s agreement with Stan Sport as he believed it would have a negative impact on wagering.

This is a fight and I like Vlandy attitude- their can be only one, none of this where in this together- room for everybody- bullshit.
Are we going to win? Including agaist the AFL, I be disappointing if we didn't go outright and become number one.

See how Vlandy fights. quote
The news comes just a week after V’landys complained to Nine Entertainment Co, the owner of Stan and the publisher of this masthead, about the lack of promotion for the upcoming NRL season in comparison to the rebranded Super Rugby competition, which started on Friday night.

The Sky pull their broadcast of clubs and pubs THEN Tabcorp pulls their wagering deal- I'm so sorry for rugga

What a flip kind of statement. Vlandy can't control what Nine show or don't show- however he can warn them that the NRL disagrees with their stand. However to stop pubs and clubs showing ra ra ( a competitor to the NRL) and not allow/ Tabcorp to complete a betting contract which would advantageous Nine and stan- would let them (Nine) know, don't f**k us over or whatever strings we can pull, we will pull. acka tabcorp/sky

Perth red says being part of Racing NSW is negative- The following quote proves it ain't so.

"While Rugby Australia remain hopeful a deal will be done as soon as possible, sources with knowledge of the Tabcorp deal have told the Herald a resolution is unlikely.

Tabcorp officials were initially concerned Racing NSW chief executive Peter V’landys - who is also the chairman of the ARL Commission - had not been consulted prior to the deal being done, and continue to see little upside to having rugby competing with racing for screens in pubs.

The other two providers of satellite feeds to pubs - Optus and Foxtel - are not viable partners for Stan as the former has limited coverage in venues across the country, and the latter not only lost the rugby rights to Nine but will be showing NRL" SMH
Checkmate- He can use the cover of his position of NSW racing to grant favors to the NRL.
Thier is something good about the sport of kings and rugby League and Vlandy has used his postion(s) masterfully to rubuke nine and ra ra

I don't like Foxtel or News Ltd, but there's no denying they're a necessary evil that we have to stay with for the time being. Having our game broadcast into pubs via satellite keeps it in the eyes and minds of people who don't have Foxtel. It brings patrons to pubs, which gives them an incentive to promote our game.

Rah Rah may have got a bit more cash from Ch9, but what will they lose by not being broadcast in pubs and clubs via satellite?

It'll make things difficult for the snobbier pubs that have a history of only showing Rah Rah or AwFuL. Now they can only broadcast the FTA Rah Rah game, between Australian teams that suck, which will see the Kiwis who watch that game abandon the pubs in droves. Warriors games might become more important to pubs that rely heavily on Kiwis.

Anything that sticks the knife in Union is all good by me. I'll add a plus in the ledger for Vlandys (though he is saying he's doing it for NSW racing advantage and hasnt mentioned RL)
