New centre of excellence

St. George Illawarra need to build a multi-story ‘centre of excellence’ on the land adjacent to
Kogarah Oval.
Ground floor car park and all that stuff.
And as the structure rises up levels you can have gyms and various training- conditioning facilities on the different levels. With easy access onto the Kogarah Oval playing surface for any ball work.
Even home ground change rooms.
It can have small players motel suites for overnight stays
Even rent rooms out for public overnight game day experience.
As you see Kogarah playing surface you could have corporate boxes further grandstands public facilities eg food stalls bathrooms and on the showing wall a new you bute scoreboard to replace the old bus in the corner.
Build it right you can add a bridge across to the Taj Mahal (like the bridge at Suncorp) for easy member public excess instead of playing Russian Roulette with cars - families on the Princess Hwy.
I think everyone has seen or been involved in a near miss at some point if the STG life going to and fro from the club to the ground.
So.
This will attract players.
Be the envy of many clubs
Be safe for the public
Not disrupt traffic quite so much or aggravate the police.
Make life for the players better
And….
Again attract players. WHO still live in the Sydney Metro area who won’t need to TRAVEL daily
Sure…
Play games in Wollongong as usual give that new facility to the people of Wollongong as a recreation centre.
Who wants to commute.
I hate driving around Sydney let alone getting caught in traffic going south.
Wow!

Nah what we really need to do is to overhaul the car-centric mindset among young people and the infrastructure around it. The commute isn't the problem - cars are the problem. I know we've just signed a car company as a sponsor but cars are our ruining us. We need Dragons fans to infiltrate all levels of government but particularly the state level, to a) immediately build a high-speed rail link between Kogarah and Wollongong, b) implement within the public school curriculum an evidence-based education on the societal benefits of public transport and the harsh truths around the evils of cars. This way we might be able to sign more dumbshit footy meatheads from Sydney, plus, make the world a better place. Easy.

So you drive the car, park it at Kogarah, if you can find parking, wait on the platform for the train to arrive/depart, ride the high speed train to Wollongong and then find a ride to training at centre of excellence. Then get a ride to the train, wait on the platform etc, etc...... The footballers may be young, but not that dumb.

No no no. I've considered this. We set up a sweet sponsorship deal with Santa Cruz and the players get skateboards, gratis.

30 billion to build and that figure would blow out because of the terrain and how would you power it, renewables? Interesting take.

"For Dragons members and fans, the plans signal a transformed game-day experience. The redevelopment of WIN Stadium includes a new northern grandstand, an extended and reconfigured southern grandstand, and upgraded player facilities designed to support the continued growth of both men’s and women’s rugby league.

Modern enhancements such as upgraded scoreboards, ribbon boards, lighting, and sound systems are set to elevate match days for Dragons supporters, while improved food, beverage, and merchandise outlets, modern corporate areas, additional amenities, and enhanced accessibility will ensure a more comfortable and inclusive experience for all fans."

About time ... the WIN Stadium scoreboard is a joke at the moment. The upgrade to the whole precinct looks pretty cool if you watch the attached video.

No timeline yet as its just a masterplan and still needs full funding etc
