Yeah that's what shits me. It should be a style of its own, not a junkyard. A good CDW for me should have Chenin Blanc/Sav Blanc and Semillon in it, with a touch of something richer (chardonnay, verdelho). It's about balancing it, not just putting shit in there that's spare.

I absolutely love marsanne, rousanne, viognier....singly or blended

Chenin Blanc is done horribly in this country. Unless I've just been unlucky and had every bad Chenin Blanc on the market...

I enjoy the Brown Brothers Chenin. Amberley goes ok too. But yeah, hard to find it done as well as a Vouvray

It's actually a very nice quaffer I reckon. We've got a few choices for bottle three but wine never gets wasted in my house and since it went in the dinner we're drinking it. Honestly for a midweek two glasses in the pasta and two glasses for me, at $4-$7 it's hard to beat

Yeah Hardy's aren't quite as bad IMO but still not great. Treasury though...$40 for the 2011 Wynn's Black Label....really?

VC (and now 1C) Chalkboard Heathcote Negroamaro...for what is essentially a premium cleanskin/house wine it's excellent. Full bodied, plummy, tonnes of spice, could drink with straw

Palladium Shiraz. Woolies BOB, tastes just like you'd expect. Bit sweet, not a lot of punch, very boring drink.

Baron Amarillo Rioja 2006. Another Aldi import. Not a world beater, but for less than $10 it definitely a solid quaffer.

Trentham "La Famiglia" Nebbiolo 2010. Pure quaffer, has the dusty character I was looking for but the rest is a touch on the flat side.

Printhie MCC 2010 Riesling followed by a 2012 The Blonde Shiraz Viognier from Head Wines. Both very tasty. Printhie was very easy drinking and the Head was full of spice and vanilla. Think the Head wines will really be amazing in 3-5+ years.

St Hallett Sonntag shiraz 2010. Awesome wine, big and rich and dark but quite soft.

Cockfighter's Ghost 2006 Shiraz for me tonight. Really enjoying it quite a bit!

Saw a 2006 today so grabbed a bottle to try..

Nice, it's a fairly mellow wine. Enjoying it quite a bit, better than the 2010 I think.

Steve Bird Big Barrel Pinot...Normally I hate Marlborough pinots, they taste like weak Ribena. But this stuff is great juice, really good
