Winning vs Losing

Well, this is a very difficult topic to bring up.

For the first time ever in all the years supporting the mighty Eels, I am starting to want the losses to continue to pressure for a change in coach. I did think SK would bring a fair bit to the club, but it pains me to say, the plan isnt working, not a good playing structure, no recruitment on the back of SKs name, the NYC squad is not providing any light ( Ok some have been pushed up)

Dark days, when you begin to think this way :(

I never wish my team to lose, but I'm slowly coming to accept that a change of coach is imminent.

Delboy, imagine if I posted ^^this 6 weeks ago. There would be an uproar.

My preference is that we start winning. That we sign a few more players of Lussick's potential and that SK takes us to 11th place next year, which will take us back to where Ando left us in 2010.

In reality it looks like we'll be wooden spooners 2 years in a row for 2012/13.

Maybe we do need a change to get some sort of a rebound effect.

Gronk, wasn't easy to say what I did, but reality is that we may need to see some real action as this is basically not working

I cant see how we can continue with what we have for much longer

I'd rather we win some games, and I don't that's mutually exclusive with us sacking SK before long either

It is time that the board showed some leadership and sack the coach before any bandaid reprieve resulting from an unexpected win. Every morning I check the site hoping to see the topic of - Kearney sacked.

Come on Spags, show some leadership and dismiss this failed rookie.

Players have to take some of the blame as well. It's not good enough just blaming the coach. Players need to show some pride and take some of the heat. AS FOR SK, HE DEF CAN'T SAY HE WASN'T GIVEN A FAIR CRACK THAT'S FOR SURE. The losing can't continue thats for sure.

yeah well win or lose we have the squad to finish in the bottom half of the 8 but instead we are 16th. So i don't think if we win the next 2 games they will keep SK on, he is on borrowed time next loss after origin will see him gone in my opinion.

Well the board offered him help not once but twice and he declined so it's all on him really, yes some of the players haven't play to thier best but isn't the coaches job to bring the best out of his players?
I have supported SK all along up until this week, he just has no answers it is clear with the team he picked again this week. He's not blooding juniors or anything he just picks the same blokes who mis tackles and drop balls every week.

I would be interested to hear from those who blame the losing culture for our demise, rather than Kearney.

At the moment it would seem that our coach has done more to promote the image of a losing culture than any group of players in the past few decades.

See that's what I don't get.

I would have liked Kearney to stay put, to accept help from a mentor and to continue with the re-structure of the junior system aka "The Academy".

You're right, the board now need to show some balls and make some hard decisions.

I haven't heard anything from the club the last few weeks defending him which leads me to think SK is gone. I think the last straw was not able to sign Hinchy after offering massive overs. I really believed Kearney was on the right path with the juniors and setting up an academy. I really believe we did need a complete overhaul unfortunately by the looks Kearney was not the man to pull it off :(

I now have a bad feeling the board will rush and and sign the first coach who expresses interest in the job, if we do punt Kearney every effort should be made to find the best man for the job.

I can't blame you for thinking that way Delboy. It is very sad it has come to this. SK has had a good chance and he isnt upto it. I feel for him, i don't hate him. His intentions are good, but it just isnt working. We need to cut ties with him ASAP to build on the future.

I think SK turned down assistance was fear that whoever that was would take over his job as head coach.

Didn't SK say earlier this year that being head coach was a lot harder than he thought it would be? Alarm bells should have been ringing then.

We've gone backwards on last year of that's even possible and we have a better team this year to boot.

It seems there's not a single supporter who still has faith in Kearney as a coach. If there is they are strangely absent from the forum this week. The way he blabbered through the press conference last week looks like he has no confidence in himself in doing the job any more.

I can't cheer for us to lose, but coming from someone like Delboy that's a pretty big statement. It shouldn't really matter if we win this week whether Kearney gets the punt or not, even if we win by 40. Firstly, we are playing Penrith. Secondly, so many times under Kearney we've looked like we've turned a corner only to drop into a heap the following week. Winning games now once our season is over means very little. He had to get us winning when it mattered.

I'm a supporter. I just can't hack seeing ad-lib football and then being disappointed when it lets us down during a big occasion or the lack of consistency. It's entertaining to watch, but I want long term success and consistency in my football team.

Perhaps accepting mediocrity wasn't such a bad thing after all during the Smith era...

I have been very vocal about SK not being up to the job of head coach.

Having said that, there is no simple solution.

If a new coach is to be appointed, then surely it needs to be done now, to allow the new coach a say in recruitment for 2013.

Regardless of a new coach being appointed, I can't see us being a threat to the title before two years.

Ricky Stuart will be our next coach, hence why SK is yet to be sacked but he's virtually a dead man walking.

Nothing will happen until after Origin 3.

That's my opinion.
