If Witt were there last night we might have won. We will never know. The tigers werent exaclty on fire. But thorman is no where near nrl quality. I think the only halves combination which will take us to finals football is either:
6 - Dykes/Morris
7 - Witt

Did anyone see the PL last night, Witt was a different player to what he was in first grade, he really took on the line, good options on the last tackle and read the play well in defence. Why is that he plays different in PL to first grade???

Cause of the coaching style. I dont think Witt wouldntve won us the game last night against the Tigers, but wouldve tried a lot better than Thorman. Unfortunatley, there's no style, its very ordinary. Smith's coaching tactics are useless and always have been. Theres no backline movement, everyone seems lost out there, too much dummy half running and some of the forwards are bludging, apart from Hindmarsh.

Dont be surprised if Smith picks the same crappy against Cronulla in 2 weeks. Why??? Cause he's got no idea. Im sick of this, Im fed up with all this crap. Theres no point going to see a team of first graders play like a team of no hopers, worse than Oldham in the Northern Ford Premiership. Smith has lost the plot with his coaching options, and I think its time to change.

And another problem, we had one playmaker in first grade last night and he was ordinary. In first grade you would normally have to have at least 3-4 playmakers, a 5/8, a half, a hooker that can play half, or even one playmaker coming off the bench. If Thorman was injured during the game last night, it wouldve been worse. Maybe Pearson wouldve had to play halfback.

That tells me that Witt feels more confortable playing halfback, not 5/8. He didnt do too bad anyway.

WHY THE HELL HAVE WE NOT SEEN IN FIRST GRADE "6 Thorman, 7 Witt" YET????

I have no idea what has gone on for us in the halves this year ](*,)

To my knowledge Thorman was a five-eighth with Huddersfield, and also played five-eighth in Yorkshire and England A Rep footy. Though he was used mostly at half-back at London, pushing Dennis Moran to full-back. But Parra has not selected Thorman in any other position than half-back or bench.

Thorman and Witt have only made 7 starting appearances together this year - Round 12 (Tigers) and Round 17 (Warriors) in first grade, and Rounds 3-7 in Premier League. Each time Witt was selected at 5-8 and Thorman at 7.

Thorman also started once (half-back) with Dykes (Round 11 Dragons), and Witt also started once (five-eighth) with Dykes (Round 13 Newcastle). So 4 first grade games together is all that our best three halves options have had together this season!!

For some reason, it seems Smith has wanted to turn Witt into a five-eighth since the off-season, and turn Dykes into a half? #-o Smith has certainly rated Thorman more of a half-back than he does Witt, as shown by these selections. But why mess around with what it seems are these guys natural/best positions - Dykes 5-8, Witt 7, Thorman 5-8 (7 if needed), Wagon lock.

Brian Smith should be known now on as the "half fiddler" and for mine that tactic has cost us more pain this season than the "big, strong and ugly" thing ever did...
