I've enjoyed both games immensely, they were two good contests with great atmospheres. Hopefully it continues and even comes down under next year or the following.

Amazing how many f**king wankers claim to be waiting for the League season to begin and when some games come along that may be highly entertaining but out of the ordinary they can't wait to denigrate them . . . mostly the same pricks who love to backfence over drugs and mayhem

Broncos chief executive Paul White says he'd like to host the World Club Series in Brisbane. "Most definitely," said White. "The guys here at Wigan tell me about 4000 people travelled to the game in Sydney last year. If that's not attractive to a state government, I don't know what is." Next year, however, the tournament will return to England. "The boys have been over here for 10 days together – that's difficult to do back home. It's been terrific for us," said White. Like coach Wayne Bennett, the CEO was not a fan of the game against Wigan going into overtime. "I tend to think 12-12 is probably a good result and let's move on but I just went up into a room of about 80 corporates and they thought it was great because they'd never seen it before."

Spanked, faking spanked. And this is why our best 3-4 teams should not all play the English teams.

4 spankings will quickly kill the series off.

Our top 4 teams should sit it out to be honest. They had their grand finals at the end of the NRL season.

If your going to promote world growth, then promote.
Dont just send superleague teams to the slaughter and have the series become a joke.

Spanked, absolutely spanked.
Bunnies the team to beat this year.
Teams playing the bunnies need to get dirty, cheat and play the refs for fools, and learn to dive and do the twist in tackles.

Can't be good for the ESL.
The comp is the weakest it's been for a while and St Helens are easily the weakest champions in history. I think some other teams could've put up a better fight than them, although Souths are clearly a different class.

so your saying they shouldn't have the world club championship game at all then??? one of your best oikee! thats not very "exotic"

you make a good point about the aussies dominating though, so maybe they should just have the one game between the 2 premiers

Wrong. People don't get it.

Imagine if the New York Knicks came and played the Sydney Kings in front of a sellout crowd at the Entertainment Centre and beat them 113-72. Do you think that would be a negative for basketball in this country?

Sure, a win would have been better. But the publicity and excitement in the lead up will only be good for RL as their new season structure gets underway

exactly. look at the crowds and support for the 3 games. and the commentators pointed out it wasnt just the home team's fans who attended. i enjoyed all 3 games. all were far more than glorified trials and i think the coaches will be pleased with the intensity shown by the sides.

i was dissapointed st helens didnt give souths more trouble, but geez souths look good this early on in the season

Nah, it's pretty demoralizing considering Super League clubs have won something like 5 of the last 10 WCC fixtures. St Helens are just a shitty team who only won the comp last year because all the other contenders fell apart in one way or another. A legit team would've put up a much better fight, I think even Wigan and Warrington would've done better even though they've both started the season with poor form.

4 of the last 10 actually. And 1 of the last 7. The gap is widening. And that's with almost all of the games over there at times that suit their schedule.

The NRL and the ESL are supposed to be the top two league competitions in the world, so the thrashing we saw this morning in a game between each of those respective competitions top teams says very little for the English competition. It should not have been a blow out and in my opinion damages the image of the ESL.

A game played between a team from the NBA, the #1 basketball club competition in the world and a team from the NBL, a competition that would rank pretty low in the world order would expect to be a blow out.

Sorry but your comparison is meaninglessness.

Saints won the GF because Wigan had a player sent off in the first minute.
Even then they only just won.

It is not really that demoralising. Warrington and Wigan both had close games against teams from Aus. It is sport, you win some lose some.

What is this bullsh*t talk about the comp being a waste of time, so what if Aus clubs won 3-0. The SL teams will learn from this, all three teams were full of good young players and are the next generation of players to take on Aus and NZ in the world cup.

Just because one country wins the games now, does not mean it will happen every year.

Who knows, if we have a good comp every year, SL players may not be so easy to poach in the future improving the comp further.

The NRL have something the AFL will never have, so that can't be a bad thing.

Next year, bring in the French and Kiwi team, and put the comp at the end of the year.
For Warrington and Wigan, the games last week and next week are more important now only the top 4 teams go in the playoffs.

In terms of the position our game holds in the UK and the exposure that having a side like Souths (with Crowe, Inglis, Burgii brothers) come over, along with big clubs like Broncos and saints is great for their game.

US is dominanted by
1. NFL
2. NBA
3. MLB
4. NHL
and then smaller, but popular sports like soccer

AUS is dominated by
1. AFL
2. NRL
3. Cricket
=4. Rugby Union
=4. Soccer

So the comparison holds up in that an NRL team in status in Australia is similar in status (in perspective) to an NBA team in the US.

Conversely, Rugby league is a minority sport in the UK
1. Soccer
(Daylight)
2. Rugby Union
3. Cricket

With rugby league being much further down the list, a sport that is mainly popular in regional towns, desperate for publicity. Similar to basketball in Australia, which is way down the list, traditionally strong in Townsville, Cairns, Wollongong, Adelaide, Perth...smaller markets, desperate for attention and media.

In that way, the comparison holds up fine.
