The Rugby Union World Cup presents an opportunity to see real competition internationally in the sport/concept of 'rugby', be it league or union.
I think we should get behind it - I've had it argued to me that the international game is dead, and it is. Thankfully I'm a fan of Australian sport (except AFL and Soccer which bore me to sleep), and I'll be watching all of Australia's Union matches in coming weeks/months.
I adopted the anti-Union attitude for much of the past few years, but in the past 12 months I've made an effort to understand the game - and it isn't a bad game in actual fact.
It will be an exciting spectacle - a spectacle that League can't match because Australia is too darn good and no-one else wants to play the game.
