Must be some mistake, everyone on this board knows that genuine born and bred players dont duck out of these kind of competitons. Its always those nasty heritage players making a joke of IRL.

Also quite laughable that NO other nation has released a squad for this comp yet, but they seem to know this Welsh team coached by John Kear, a coach of high regard in the UK, well know for getting the best out of players with limited ability will get stuffed/destroyed.

14 first-choice players missing from a variety of clubs, including usually reliable players. It can't be a coincidence, obviously for some reason they've just written this tournament off. Maybe they want to give the players a proper off-season before the World Cup Qualifiers next year or something.

Players missing (from nadera78 at TRL):
Lloyd White / Gil Dudson / Rhodri Lloyd / Ben Flower / Anthony Walker / Jordan James / Rhys Evans / Ben Evans / Tyson Frizell / Larne Patrick / Craig Kopczak / Mike Channing / Matt Seamark / Danny Jones

If they qualified for the 4 Nations than they would automatically qualify for the World Cup?

I don't know, it hasn't been made clear. I think the RLIF are just hoping that doesn't happen TBH and that one of France or Scotland win the comp. Wales won't do anything with that squad anyway, though they might have had a chance with even half the above listed players.

Massam and Carvell out, four more players added to the squad....

http://www.walesrugbyleague.co.uk/article/12454/four-more-players-called-up

Wales coach John Kear has brought in four new additions, including three potential new caps, to his European Championships squad.

Wales Student internationals Tom Hughes (pictured) and Morgan Evans, the latter of whom also played for South Wales Scorpions last season, come in, as does Owain Griffiths of North Wales Crusaders, son of former coach Clive.

Hughes, who plays for League 1’s new club Coventry Bears, has also been a star for Loughborough University, Wales and Great Britain students, scoring tries for fun from the full-back position.

In addition, Cardiff-born Lewis Reece is in with a chance of his first cap in four years. The 23-year old famously converted Gareth Thomas’ debut try for Wales in a friendly defeat to Italy in Wrexham in 2011.

South Wales Scorpions’ record points scorer on 186, Reece spent the 2014 season in Queensland where he represented the famous Toowoomba Clydesdales regional side.

Kear has been forced to make the changes after Garreth Carvell and Rob Massam withdrew late last week.

Massam has cited work commitments while Carvell is struggling to recover from a knee injury.

However Carvell will still join the Welsh squad in an assistant coaching role.

He said: “After seeing the doctor, he has advised me that being put in a knee brace and doing no running for three months would be the best treatment if I'm intending to carry on playing next season and beyond.

“Unfortunately that means I'll be unavailable to play for Wales and will have to withdraw from the squad. I was really looking forward to pulling on my Wales shirt again and although that can't happen this year I still want to be involved with the team during the coming games in some capacity. I feel I'd be able to contribute in a positive way and would be willing to help out in any way I can.”

I've got it on good authority that Dudson is getting married and Flower is his best man/usher (one or the other). Lloyd White, meanwhile, is expecting his first child sometime this month.
