Haha yeah, still that's a great deal for a player who was seriously injured at the time.

Twizzle that info was directly from a Roma PR statement, it was in Italian. Will see if I can find a link.

Mate, there is no way Aquilani could do any worse than Lucas. Against Wigan he was your best player when coming off the bench.

There are no excuses for leaving him out, its just ridiculous.

BTW the Aquilani deal was as follows:

Four cash instalments of:
- - 5 million EURO upfront
- - 3 million EURO by 4th January 2010
- - 7 million EURO by June 30th 2010
- - 5 million EURO by June 30th 2011

Further add-ons include:

- 300,000 EURO for every year Liverpool qualify for the Champions League from 2010/11 to 2014/15

- 250,000 EURO everytime the player reaches 35 appearancs, 70 appearances, 105 appeances and then 140 appearances.

- 1 million EURO the first time Liverpool either wins the Premier League or Champions League by 30 June 2014.

- 5% of any future transfer fee will be paid to Roma.

These numbers are from official statement released by AS Roma.

Because Italian clubs have such a good reputation when it comes to truthful reporting of finances.

Yeah mate, keep telling yourself than an official statement is a lie. Whatever floats your boat.

Fact is, we sold you a crocked player for way more than what he was worth, and to top it all off your idiot manager doesn't even play him when he's finally fit.

And how do you know that's he fully fit?
He'd be fit enough to play in Serie A not the EPL.

After all.... the medical team for Roma did such a bang-up job with his injury before he got to us.

He insists the ankle trouble which will prevent him from playing until October is not "serious" and may have been caused by the failings of former club Roma's medical staff.
"Maybe I worked badly in Italy – the ankle problem was initially overlooked and I carried on playing, and then I finally had to stop. The doctors at Roma kept on changing, so I was never looked after by the same person

Why would you play a reported £20 million for a player and blow him out in his
first season. He's signed for 5 seasons.

Just quietly. If you've got any more of these crocked players we'll take them off your hands.

4-1

Torres bags a double, with one for Babel and one from some over
paid lad from Roma - Who by the way was f**king boss.
Thank f**k for that. Finally the Liverpool of 08/09 shows up and puts it to Portsmouth.

About times lads.

This morning just proves what a clueless f**kwit your coach is, benching Aquilani for Lucas. He was fit two months ago, Benitez just never played him.

I could completely understand him not playing too much if your team was firing, but for most part they were pathetic and the player playing ahead of him (Lucas) is mediocre at best.

Anyway, happy for him, always maintained he was a class player. (read my thoughts about him when he signed). He just needs time to settle into English football as its a big change, and he isn't going to get that sitting on the bench.

Mind you, it is Portsmouth. A much bigger test awaits this weekend at the Theatre of merkins...

Finally we learn to score goals again and play some decent football. But we need to keep it up and do it away from home as well.

No action against Gerrard

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard will not face action from the Football Association following his clash with Portsmouth midfielder Michael Brown.

It is understood the FA sought clarification from referee Stuart Attwell after Gerrard appeared to catch Brown with his forearm during the 4-1 win for Rafael Benitez's men at Anfield.

Attwell saw the incident at the time and spoke to Gerrard after awarding Pompey a free-kick, with the FA following guidelines not to punish players retrospectively if the match official sees the alleged offence.

Yet again Gerrard gets away scott-free, just a month or two after Rio got a four match ban for pretty much the same thing.

Well that was sh*t. lost 2-1 after we went up 1-0 after a goal from Fernando in the 5th minute of play. Rooney scored off the follow up from a saved penalty (which probably shouldnt have been given, United player dived from outside box into the box on impact, although there is no doubt i was a foul) before they scored again about 20 minutes from time. Torres should have levelled it in the last minute or so.

f**k

Very sweet win. Gerrard may as well have been suspended for all the use he was to your team. Torres had a rare shocker after his early goal, but then again, strikers tend to have shockers when they get no service from their midfield.

Howard Webb ay.The bloke who couldnt see the Arsenal handball when we played them a few weeks ago and he somehow sees a penalty in that Manure goal last night.
If they bring in the 2 referee system they could rotate Webb and Steve Bennet and really fix us up.

No surprise that the last two games in which we've scored three goals have been the two games Lucas hasn't played.

And Torres is still a freak. What about that opener!

just about goal of the season from Torres that first one. Second goal was a neat little finish as well. Good win, we actually looked like we were playing football for once
