Im glad to say that we had no probs going forwards, we made a fairfew yards with every set of Six.

But we had nothing to offer in attack, Dykes must go into 5/8 as he is the only one that can feed the ball out to Lyon and Co. otherwise we will not score a point. Brian Smith must get Witty or Thorman or somebody at Half so Dykes can play 5/8. If not we will get hammered this year starting with the Dogs.

Dykes must be 5/8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just some obdervations on some players yesterday:

Fui Fui: 3 strong hitups and then he would be dead tired and that was in 1st div

Cayless: Champion

Muspratt: Offers nothing

Cannings: Played ok

Pearson: Top Job

Tsoulos: Came off with a Knee injury but was making yeards before then, Knee is injury not serious as I saw him walking afterwards

Lyon/Vaeleki: did not see that much of the ball.

Wise K: I don't think he is the best defensive winger around but played ok

PaI: Looks like he has some skill, holds the ball in 2 hands but needs more game time to see what he really can do.

Cayless & Pearson were my picks as well. After that it was a fairly flat & uneventful game. I'm still not convinced that a smaller/faster team wont be able to just simply move the ball around, kick early etc & tire us out.

I think your a bit harsh on Muspratt who shared the hooking role with Webo, his normally a lock/five-eight and doesn't look flashy at hooker.

Widders looked good in PL but then again it'd be
a worry if he didnt I suppose.
Dykes looked dangerous as always.
Lyon was quiet.

Nobody did. It was a mess the ball never got out to Lyon and Vaeleki or the wingers. I think cayless and Cannings received a few passes from Dykes.

We had good go Forward but the backline was non existant. Im expecting the worst from the Bulldogs game.

A trial means absoulutely nothing. The emphais has nothing to do with looking attractive. Brian probbaly had the tactic to give the forwards as much ball as possible to see how much yards they make and how long they could keep it up for. Maybe he didn't want the backs to see much ball. I think the only person that can be satisfied with a trial is the coach because he knows the game plan and knows if they implemented it or not. I dont think the coach would care if they lost a trial by 30 as long as they did what he tells them to. Its about experimentation not attractive football.

The scrum reciever was always a winger.

.......True, but all Im saying is that we will get beat by the scum in 2 weeks time and other teams as well if we play like we did yesterday. I hope what u r saying about tactics for the trial is true, for our team sake.

Ha, that actually seemed true! Brett Delaney was chosen as run on 5/8, but got knocked early and was cut on the cheek and coughing on the sideline. Jeremiah Pai went on as his replacement, and these two rotated time on field during the rest of the game.

Pai seemed to look more threatening of the two to me in attack? But yeah, nothing to top the Dykes/Witt halves combo in my opinion.

What has happened to Witt? is he seriously out of form or is Smith treating him like Shit?

Witt came on for Thorman in PL after 20 mins, and played fine in attack although outshone wider out by Widders for mine. But I did see the Wests team make a few breaks through Wiity defending wide in backline movements. This surprised me as his defence in first grade last yearseemed fine to me?

Smithy was on the sidelines for the earlier games, and spoke with individual players at great length on the sidelines in Flegg and above. He spent time talking with Witt and gesticulating some attacking moves he wanted him to go back out and try - crossfield kicks and the like. So Smithy was obviously interested in his play, and I'd say he is still under first grade consideration?

if your talking about the 22 in premys playing for the eels? his name is Waylon Muntz. I don't think he got a great deal of game time.

Or if you're talking about 22 coming on at fullback in the first grade, that was Wade McKinnon (backing up from the premier league trial) when Vaealiki went off with 25 min to go, with Burt shuffling to the centres.

Did anyone watch PL, cause I was wondering who play 2nd Row for Parramatta, he had blonde long hair and was wearing number '11'. But in the program it had Matt Petersen listing. :?

Don't quote me but it was probably O'Dwyer, who also impressed me in 1st grade.

Cayless said in the sunday paper, that they hadnt done too much work yet, on plays from inside the opposition 20m line. SOunds like SMith has been concentrating on defence and bring the ball out from our own end effectively, then relying on players to create something once we get down the attcking end. The 50 plus points from our first two trials indicates to me that this is an ok plan thus far.

Freak, it wasn't O'Dwyer I saw him play in the first grade game. The one I'm talking about is big, tall and has long blonde hair. Does anyone know who he was?
