I know we've done a million of these but I'm bored at work and wanted to get everyone's thoughts on their first pick for 1-18 pick (18th man for fun). For sake of argument, we will pretend that Gavet is fit and Origin period is over.
My team:

Tedesco
Nofo
Lawrence
Simona
Richards
Austin
Brooks
Woods
Farah
Galloway
Sironen
Thomson
Blair

Tupau
Sue
Halutau
Gavet
Ava

This is a fearsome f**king team and a half...the scariest thing is that A. If Gavet is fit after Origin period (and no additional injuries) it's 100% plausible and B. this team has the ability to go all the way.

Pretty much agree, it is a solid team. My changes would be Nofo to right centre, Koro to right wing. Halatau my 18th man. My players to cover injuries in the backs would be Siro or Thompson. I like four big guys on the bench. I am not saying Lawrence would be gone forever but I'd like to see how we go with Simona on the left and Koro in the team.

Yeah, I am a bit bored at work as well...

Forgot to add Fulton needs to get his head right so I am using that as an excuse to not name him...the guy is all heart and so heard to leave out.

I actually eerily predicted a couple of months ago that Fulton would be injured for the back half of the year. Its a shame that it could be career ending for him, but hopefully he will be able to come back soon.
At the moment however, I'm ruling Fulton out for at least a month or two, hence why I haven't picked him.

I'm not (presently) a fan of punting Lawrence to move Nofoaluma into the centres, and bring Korobeite on to the wing... but I reckon that could be the only potential tweak worth considering for your side...

I've always been hugely against moving Nofoaluma from the wing. Nobody is still yet to explain to me why he would be better in this position. His two biggest strengths are:
Finishing - he has a freakish ability to put the ball down in spaces so tight that most wingers would botch the try
High Ball - absolutely solid...never seen him botch a bomb ever

IMO both these talents would be lost if he moved to centre. Why move a freakish winger who is still developing his game? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Still think we need a backup back (in the 18), if we are to go all the way? Not sure if it isn't a bit early to nominate Siro & Halutau as they are both untested at this stage, this year.

Really? In terms of potential I would put Moses ahead of Austin but in terms of capability in FG over the next 3 months Austin would be way better.

You might be right but I'm not sure. Moses looks really solid and I'm not sure Austin does however we haven't seen Moses in the top grade yet and I assume it will take some time before he puts it together.

Austin is a good option. Anasta isn't bad but he doesn't add much to our attack and there are times when he makes poor mistakes when we are on the attack.

Anasta for all his experience should add something but he simply doesn't,Moses is not ready physically and mentally for the NRL yet imo, while i hope Sirro justifies his inclusion in the run on side !

His biggest strength is his ball running. He needs more ball. Hence move to centre.

Lots of greats started on the wing then moved in when it became obvious they needed more ball to take advantage of their ballrunning ability.

Plus...to accomodate Korobiete.

4. Nofoaluma (R)
5. Koroibete

14. Gavet
15. Sue
16. Taupau
17. Seumanufagai

f**k off Anasta, Fulton to sit out at least the next six to eight weeks and while Lawrence has improved on seasons gone by, Simona and Nofoaluma would both form a great centre pairing IMO.

That team gives me serious wood! How could Potter look at that team and not feel the same way.

Take a chance and put that team on the park. Look at the firepower! The only thing stopping that team being put on the park is politics. But f*ck the politics, at the end of the day it's Potters career on the line if we don't get results. The Panthers have their club captain Kevin Kingston playing state cup this week. There is absolutely no reason why Anasta has to keep getting picked. It's not as if he's a club legend. He's only been at the club for 2 or 3 years for Gods sake.

I just feel like for some stupid reason (politics I guess) we are playing it safe, when we have the capacity to put out a team that would send shivers up the spine of every other team.

6 Sironen
11 Patterson

I still think Patterson can deliver if given extended run.

Siro a Sutton-type running 5/8.

Austen, albeit in limited opportunities, hasnt looked like the answer.
Anasta f**k off. You are just embarrassing.

For what it is worth I reckon

1. Tedesco
2. Richards
3. Lawerance
4. Simona
5. Nofoaluma
6. Austin (Moses in 2015)
7. Brooks
8. Woods
9. Farah
10. Galloway
11. Fulton/Siro
12. Thompson/Siro
13. Blair

14. Ava
15. Gavet
16. Taupau
17. Sue

Hard to leave Siro and Koro out but it is good to have depth

Everyone seems to be thinking along the same lines. Austin to replace Anasta is a no brainer. Everyone is also of the same mind with the bench. The only real debate is whether to move Nofo to centre to accommodate Korobete.

I personally think Haluatau is an absolute must. One bench spot that can literally cover everything. Centre gets injured? Bam he can cover it. Farah gets injured? Not a problem. Anywhere in the back row needs someone to come on off the bench? Player please, he's got it covered

I think with Fulton/Thompson/Siro in the side as back rowers you have all the back line and hooker cover you need so might as well have the 4 big forwards on the bench which was working perfectly at the start of the year until injuries hit.

My dream team:

1. Junior Burger
2. Rieck
3. Fitzy
4. Aysh
5. Crockett
6. J Lo
7. J Mo
8. O'Hara
9. Flanagan
10. Lewis
11. Slammin Sam
12. D Galea
13. Buddy Gordon

14. Analsta
15. Timid
16. Reddy
17. Lulia

Big fan of 4 backs on the bench and some conundrums about where to play fitzy and J Mo who would both be captains. Anasta could play as a running forward off the bench and match Danny Galea for 2.62 metres per hitup. The team would coach themselves, much like the Kangaroos, but I am sure the Kangaroos coach could clear the diary to spearhead this lot to September or October glory
