My NSW team for game II
1. Dugan
2. Hayne
3. Gasnier
4. Jennings
5. Uate
6. Soward
7. Pearce
8. Learoyd Lars
9. Ennis
10. Snowden
11. Greagh/Bird/Scott take a pick, cant choose.
12. Gallen (c)
13. Lewis: is a must!

Interchange:

14. Gidley
15. Mannah/
16. Galloway
17. Merrin

this is why it is pointless in most of us who dont have any input in the way the team is to play putting forward teams.

what do your numbers mean? you've got Hayne at #2, Gaz @ #3, etc. I assume you're implying Hayne is to partner Gaz & Jennings is partnering Uate. But on which sides? Gaz is a right centre for SGI, Jennings is a left centre for PEN, Uate is a right winger for NEW, and also where they were all positioned in Game 1.

furthermore, you've brought in a predominantly left-sided player in Lewis and listed Creagh & Bird as the other right-side forwards when they're normally left-sided players too. and how are you using the back row players?

Im not picking on your team , Im just using it as an example of how most people just list 17 players from 1 to 17 but dont impart any info on how they're to be used positionally and structurally. in the end, it's not imparting any valuable info about why it can beat QUE.

Tim Grant had another strong game with 20 hit ups. I know Ricky Stuart rates him highly too. Maybe for Game 3 if NSW are down 2-0.

4. Gasnier
5. Uate
6. Soward
7. Pearce
8. Weyman
9. Ennis

11. Scott
12. Gallen
13. Bird

14. Lewis
15. Gidley
16. Grant
17. Learoyd-Lahrs

Tim Grant's workrate is ridiculous and he deserves a run. TLL's impact off the bench would be insane. I wanted to put Watmough in there but I want Scott's defense so there isn't really another spot for him.

Weyman always has some impact and has been playing well. Creagh has had plenty of chances and not done much. Merrin has been solid but I think Grant is playing better footy and has the better work rate. I don't think he'd let anyone down.

Snowden is questionable with an injury and while he's a Stuart favourite he just hasn't impressed me.

Hayne is the obvious decision on the wing and should of been there Brett Morris injury or not.

Hopefully Jennings can shake it off and be back for the next game. He would be a massive miss for the team. It would hurt to loose his attacking edge as a player.

Here's to hoping Jennings is well! Go NSW!

If he plays slightly injured again, I hope he performs a lot better than the last 2 series he played injured for...

Bird looked to have a barry for GC against PEN last night. The Titans all up are playing below NRL standard, and Bird is better than one bad performance, but Im starting to have doubts about his merits as the starting left-side forward for the blues. I think Lewis' chances in a winning Penrith team have improved greatly. I reckon Stuart wouldve be been heading this way up until Jennings injury and will be on his knees praying all day in the hope that Jennings will be fit. Lewis alongside Jennings and maintaining the Penrith left-side link will be stronger than any other centre-forward pairing that's introduced here.

Idris is right-centre, and more over. Did SFA last night. Josh Morris is a left centre but looked like a gumbie last night too.

I'm going to say it now, for any chance of that left-side being effective wednesday week, Jennings has to be able to play, particularly if Lewis is selected.

Ennis, on form, both origin and club form, should be dropped. I know this will be chalked up to a Tigers/Farah love in post but I've been watching him closely and he has been in career worst form over the past few weeks. Last night he made 4 errors and had no impact in attack whatsoever and this has been the norm this season for Ennis. I have no idea why he has become an automatic selection.

No he is just a complete & utter twit.
As long as he has anything to do with selections he will push for Manly players in rep teams,no matter how ordinary they are.
& as a QLDER ,long live Bozo's selection career.

King made something like 145m v Dogs from memory..not the worst game.

Still, 1, maybe 0 players from the in form team in the comp.

If Michael Jennings is out, maybe Luke Lewis can slot straight into left centre. I'd rate his chances at slotting in effectively then moving Jamal Idris to the left. He's a strong defender and he's most dangerous when he gets the ball out wide anyway. Plus it would make it easier to keep him on the field for 80 minutes.

A left side combination of Lewis, Bird and Hayne could go very well IMO. I'd rather Lewis at left second row with Jennings inside him, but if he's injured this is one of the best alternatives.

Hayne, Knights skipper Kurt Gidley and Penrith forward Luke Lewis will be the three major changes for Origin II in Sydney.

After controversially being overlooked for Origin I, Hayne will be welcomed back into the fold when coach Ricky Stuart names his squad on Sunday night.

Hayne will be named on the wing, replacing St George Illawarra flyer Brett Morris, who injured his hamstring last weekend.

Hayne admitted that selection for the Blues was weighing on his mind.

Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar.

End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar.

"It's obviously something I think about, but something I try not to worry about. So if I get selected, I get selected," Hayne said.

While Hayne's return will dominate the headlines, the Blues squad for their must-win clash at Homebush on June 15 will also feature three significant changes.

Gidley is back to add experience, versatility and spark from the bench.

Morris' Dragons teammate Dean Young is likely to may way for Gidley - a tough decision for Stuart, who is a huge supporter of the utility forward.

Cronulla's Test prop Kade Snowden is also expected to be a casualty from Origin I in Brisbane because back and shoulder problems have affected his form in recent weeks.

Snowden and front-row teammate Jason King came under heavy criticism for their efforts in game I.

King is expected to survive the axe, but he needed a strong performance against the Bulldogs oin Saturday night.

It is anticipated that Eels prop Tim Mannah will be elevated to a starting role.

Mannah was strong from the bench in Brisbane and would play alongside King.

He suffered a minor rib injury in the Eels' 14-all draw with the Dragons on Friday night, but he assured Blues officials he was "sweet".

King's Sea Eagles teammate Anthony Watmough is also a chance to be included in the squad, despite claims earlier this season that a string of off-field misdemeanours had thwarted his representative aspirations.

But Watmough's form for Manly is too good to ignore.

It's just a matter of how Stuart can fit the former Test back-rower into his side.

The win-at-all-costs attitude from the Blues will also see Penrith strike weapon Lewis named on the bench.

The Australia representative and Panthers leader was unavailable for selection before Origin I because of injury, but regular phone conversations with Stuart over the past month inspired the 27-year-old to ensure his availability for game II.

Lewis proved his worth with a man-of-the-match display against South Sydney last Monday night.

Canberra and Test prop Tom Learoyd-Lahrs will have one final chance to impress Blues officials when the Raiders host North Queensland Cowboys this afternoon.

But it appears even a match-winning performance won't be enough for the hulking prop. Concerns over his fitness levels are a contributing factor to his fall from grace this season.

Jamie Soward and Mitchell Pearce will retain the job of steering the Blues around the park, while Bulldogs hooker Michael Ennis will wear the No.9 jumper after coming off the bench in Brisbane.

Beau Scott, Greg Bird and Paul Gallen will form the back row.

In making just three changes, Stuart has delivered on his promise to show faith in the side that narrowly went down 16-12 at Suncorp Stadium a fortnight ago.

Gallen said that he was eagerly anticipating a sellout crowd at Homebush for the do-or-die encounter.

"We'll be much better as a unit for the experience of Origin I and I'm really looking forward to getting back and playing in front of our home fans," Gallen said.

"We came together really well as a group ahead of game one and I think we'll only kick on from where we left each other. I know we've got the team to do NSW proud."

If we want a utility, Lewis must be a given.

Hmm I do like the idea of starting Lewis instead of Idris in the centres, Idris can offer more impact runs off the bench also.
