Your states' best win?

I was reading an article today about how Tommy Raudonikis is keen to coach the Blues again in Origin next year, with MG, Benny and the Chief as his assistants. He said he wants to put some mongrel back in the Blues pack and accused Bellamy of not exploiting his Storm players in the Maroons team. If Tommy got his chance to coach the Blues again and won the series first time back out, it would be quite an amazing victory.

IMO, NSW's best series win to date would be in 1994- after the Maroons sunk the Blues at the last second in Game 1, they thought the series was in the bag. Game 2 was in Melbourne, before heading back to Lang Park for Game 3 and Mal's farewell- they couldn't lose! But under Gus, NSW showed grit and determination and won the next two games (including breaking their Lang Park decider hoodoo) to take the shield back to its' rightful home.

What (in your opinion) is your state's best ever series win and why?

When NSW won the clean sweep under Wayne Pearce. Capped off by a 50 point flogging at Homebush. Apart from the score, that series was memorable because

  • Ryan Girdler broke Dally Messengers record for most goals in a match - that stood from 1911. All of a sudden it was more than an Origin match - it was part of a series that dated back to the beginning of the game in Australia.
  • Gordon Tallis famous "No point playing a dead rubber" whinge - the only time an Origin player didn't really want to be there.
