Wow...I struggled to come up with this....losing Cahill is a bitch (Despite the fact he did SFA yesterday)

Schwarzer

Chippefield O'Neill Beauchamp Wilkshire
Emerton Bresciano Kewell Culina
Kennedy Rukka

4-4-2. Bresc,Emerton and Kewell should ensure that Kennedy and Rukka get some service. I'm happy to shift Garcia in to the starting team and bench Rukka until later on as well

i think if you subbed Cahill for Culina we'd have our strongest team right there. I do believe that team is good enough to stretch ghana/serbia, despite last nights result. i might be optimistic but if i can still bet on the group i'd like to see what aussies odds are

my concern is that pim won't do this, and continue to be pigheaded and play a ridiculous lineup

The major problem I have is that I don't understand Kewell and Bresciano "warming up in the changeroom".

I smell a hint of disharmony in the camp. Those two disagreed with the manager and spat the dummy maybe?

I hope I'm wrong.

For the record, I'd go with

Schwarzer
Chipperfield Moore Neill Beauchamp Wilkshire
Emerton Bresciano Grella Kewell
Kennedy

5-4-1
Solid at the back.
Wide players pushing thru supporting the lone striker.
We are not a team that will score 3 goals. 1 is about our level, so we must not concede.

That's what he should have done against Germany.

Cant see the point in doing it now though...I'd start with more goal scorers initially.

If we then get 1-0 up.....go with the more defensive set and defend, defend, DEFEND!

See, I think it will work best for us all the time.
We don't have any goalscorers.

I liked maybe Hybrids idea?

Play chipperfield left wing, carney/milligan left back and wilshere right back, emerton on the right, then either Kennedy on his own up front with Cahill attacking mid and Valeri with one of cullina or Grella or even Bresciano in the middle, or Cahill and Valeri with Kewell and Kennedy up front.

Are you saying that they can,but won't because it was a right decision.

Are you saying that they can,but won't because FIFA favours the big nations?
They won't because it opens up a can of worms. Even though it obviously wasn't a red card, ultimately what is an isn't worth a red card is subjective and shrowded in grey area.

The only way you'd see them overturn a card would be if the ref yellow carded or sent off the wrong player...

Schwarz
chippers - neill - beauchamp - emerton

Valeri - Wilkshire

Bresciano - Holman - Rukavystyva

Kewell/Kennedy

Ruka can play wide on the right, has done it before and we need more pace. We're too slow.

Holman takes Cahill's spot. Holman deserves to start based on friendly form and what he showed last night. He is also capable of getting forward in the box and supporting the striker

Bresciano is creative and should have played last night

If fit, Harry plays (otherwise Kennedy) and stays out there as long as he can. Cant leave anything in the locker.

Wilkshire has experience playing in the centre of the park and I'd give him a run there. The other guys just didnt cut it.

Yep.

Maybe if a straight red had an automatic three game ban, they could get it reduced. No way we'd get it completely wiped though.

f**k the lone striker.

its simple, we have to win the next 2 games.. we have to put everything into attack.. i'd rather be exposed through playing an overly attacking team than exposed through our ... ahem.."defence" team..

go all out, give it a go and see what happens.. we have nothing to lose.

I'm saying under the stupid interpretation that they have given the referees that he got the call correct. FIFA farked up in the directive they have given for the tournament. There's already been 3 or 4 send offs so far, and you will see many more red cards over the next month.

Even if the ref did make a mistake, they are not going to admit that one of their 'best' referees made an error that big.

The refs at the WC are spastics anyway. Australia has 4 refs better than the Asian referees that were nominated. The New Zealand refs that are there rank about 6th and 7th in the A-League!!!!

True but we don't want to concede an early goal again. I'm stuffed if I know what our team will be without Cahill, I assume Kennedy will be our striker. We really don't have a quality striker and I thought we should have stuck with Kennedy last night rather than changing Cahill into a striker at the last moment. But Germany were just way too good and I doubt we could have come up with a draw anyway.

Do we actually need to win both games? If we beat Ghana and Germany beat Serbia, can't we get through with a draw if Germany beat Ghana? Anyway we're rooted without Cahill against Ghana, they look like a better team than us and so do Serbia.
