I am just curious as to which players would be playing for which NRL clubs, if they could only be eligible based on their junior club/s. With players moving around between clubs so much, its hard to keep track of where they are from.
If you could pick any current NRL player from any team, but they had to be a local junior; what would your best team look like?
Wests Tigers
1. J Tedesco (Camden Rams NSW)
2.
3.
4. C Lawrence (Eagle Vale St Andrews NSW)
5.
6.
7. M Pearce (North Ryde Hawks NSW)
8. A Woods (Leichardt Juniors NSW)
9. R Farah (Enfield Federals NSW)
10. B Gibbs (Macquarie Fields Hawks NSW)
11.
12. R Hoffman (Campbelltown Collegians NSW)
13.
14.
15.
16.
17. J Mullaney (Eagle Vale St Andrews NSW)
Yes, I am struggling to fill spots for the Tigers. But I know some die-hards will easily be able to plug the gaps.
I imagine the Warriors, Parramatta & Brisbane would field very strong teams?
Note L Fulton would qualify for Parramatta, as his junior club was Greystanes Devils, who play in the Parramatta Junior comp. (Wikipedia)
*** UPDATE - For the purposes of this hypothetical - lets not include Harold Matthews, SG Ball & Selective Sports High Schools. As the players often get picked from their local JRLFC to play for these teams/schools.
The idea was to identify a true local origin of the current crop of NRL players.
Where disputes arise, I would suggest nominating - the players 'first rugby league team'.
It does get tricky with CRL & identifying which NRL team links with each CRL Group. Any suggestions - from those in the know?
