What would you do in this situation.

Ted Turner comes to you with a wad of cash and says, to hell with Vince McMahon I want to beat him again. He tells you to get a roster of 30-40 going with the following provisos;

  • You must have four legitimate tag teams
  • You must have a legitimate cruiserweights division
  • You must have a legitimate hardcore division
But there's another twist, you are able to get any superstar of the past 25 years in their prime, IE for example if you chose Jake Roberts you wouldn't be picking some out of shape, personal problems a-plenty, drug addict, you'd be picking 1988 Master of the DDT Jake Roberts.

Who would you choose? Hypothetical of course, but we all bemoan WWE or WCW at various points..

Coincidentally, for those who feel they can do a better job of booking an organisation, go to www.greydogsoftware.com ; there's a terrific new game out called "Total Extreme Wrestling 2005", which is in your International Cricket Captain/Championship Manager mould of managing the business (there's also one called WreSpi by the same developers where you build up yourself as a wrestler). Good games for the pro wrestling enthusiasts!

I can certainly recommend TEW2005, although it does have a pricetag of some $45. If you want a free alternative, the same crew released a free program (less features, but still quite good) which is available at:
http://www.ewbattleground.com

I'll think on this and get back to ya'll

I'll give mine a whirl:-

Tag Teams:

Road Warriors Animal and Hawk

Hardcore Division:

Terry Funk

Rest of the Roster:-

Andre the Giant
Hulk Hogan

Sgt Slaughter
Ted Di Biasi
Eddie Guerrero
Mr Perfect
Rick Rude
Jimmy Snuka
Ricky Steamboat
Harley Race
Triple H

With mine, I've tried to for a lot of charismatic players who can go up and down the card as required. IE, Dusty Rhodes highlighted NWA but did move up and down the card also, Steamboat went from Upper Midcard value downwards, Eddie Guerrero can go from bottom to top, Jimmy Snuka is a midcarder etc. And I've tried to go with wrestlers I've seen more of than just guys who've been around the last year or two.

I've gone just over 40 though :-( Had to cut out a lot of people whom I originally had in (such as Mils Mascaras in cruisers, Sabu, Dory Funk, Shane Douglas, Edge, Christian, Paul Orndorff in rest of roster).

I had an E-Fed of my own going once. Practically I did two shows at once Raw and Nitro, I'll write down the Nitro side of things...

Tag Teams:
Hardcore Flyers (RVD and D'Lo Brown)
Edge and Christian
Dudly Boyz
Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray)

Cruiser Division:
LWO: Eddie Guerrero, Juvi Guerrera, Rey Mysterio jr, La Parka, Psychosis, Essa Rios, Chavo Guerrero
Japan: Ultimo Dragon, Kaz Haiyoshi (spelling), Taka, Funaki, Tajiri
Rest of the World: Paul London, Billy Kidman, Hurricane Helms

Hardcore Division: Raven (c), Bam Bam Bigalow, Saturn, RVD, Tazz, Rhino, Hardcore Holly, Hugh Morrus

Rest of the Roster:
Sting (Champion)
Ric Flair
Kevin Nash
Kane
Diamond Dallas Page
Chris Jericho
Chris Benoit
Kurt Angle (US Champion)
Dean Malenko
Scott Hall

I had other wrestlers but they were used mainly for jobbing.

Just to explain how the company was going. Sting was champion after defeating Flair at Halloween Havoc after a feud which featured Flair turning his back on Sting. Stings challenger would go onto be Chris Jericho, who was the cocky heel and I gave him some credibility giving him wins over Benoit and Nash alike.

Kane was the monster heel no one can beat, I was planning to set him up against Goldberg.

Tag division was alright, I can't remember all the teams though.

Cruiser was mainly a big war between Japan and LWO, Rest of the World would come in and out of the feud occasionally.

Hardcore was pretty much non-existent after a failed fusion with it and Cruiser.

My roster has a truly hardcore 'hardcore' division, made up of guys known for their ability to take bumps and work good bloody matches. My cruiserweights show off the best of the Indies, and I've also included the makings of what would be a competitive female division.

My main eventers are all charismatic, and can all work a good match.

I'd take the WCW's great stable from the late 90s (even better because the older guys would be at their peak), throw in the the best from the WWF at the time - Austin, Taker, Kane, Rock - and then have Goldberg go on a long winning streak against all of them.

Slightly off topic, but I'm starting a new WWE 'diary' over at Extreme Warfare Battleground. Bearing in mind I have to continue current WWE storylines, how do you like the following cards for Smackdown and Raw?

Smackdown

Randy Orton and JBL vs. Batista and Eddie Guerrero

Chris Benoit (c) vs. Booker T for the US Championship

Super Crazy and Psicosis vs. Chad & Tank Toland

Matt Hardy debuts on The Peep Show

Juventud (c) vs. Paul London vs. Nunzio vs. Joey Mercury for the Cruiserweight Title

LOD 2005 & Rey Mysterio vs. Paul Birchall, William Regal, and Ken Kennedy

CM Punk debuts

Raw

Hulk Hogan makes his return to Raw!

Big Show vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Edge vs. Kurt Angle for #1 Contendership

Kane vs. Eugene

Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair (c) for the Intercontinental Title

Rob Conway vs. Marty Jannety in the Legends' Challenge

Lita vs. Trish Stratus (c) for the Women's Title

TNT (c) vs. Rosey & The Hurricane for the Tag Titles
