Zac Lomax

In a sensational twist in the NSW Supreme Court on Tuesday, Eels barrister Arthur Moses told the court that the Eels and Lomax had settled the at-times bitter legal fight.

Under the agreement, Lomax is still bound by the terms of his release that he cannot sign with another club without the Eels’ consent.

The Eels have agreed to shave one year off that agreement – meaning he can return to the NRL without their consent for the 2028 season.

It also effectively means that Lomax’s hopes of joining the Melbourne Storm are dead.

As part of the deal, the Storm must pay Lomax’s legal fees as well as $250,000 to the Eels for their legal costs.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported an agreement between the Eels and Storm to resolve the Lomax dispute fell over after out of favour star Ryan Matterson rjected an agreement to immediately move to Melbourne.

The Storm had agreed to also sign Matterson in a bid to end the stand-off, before later offering to pay out the remainder of Matterson’s 2026 contract worth $416,000 as well as another $300,000 in cash. but the player blocked the move.

Zacs ambition to morris dance around the game ends in near catastrophe!

I am not an expert in the area, but I couldn’t get over the fact that he agreed with the clause and never properly contemplated that 360 was going to turn into mush and that he could be caught.

The settlement means that we won’t get to see and hear about the storms recruiting and backroom operations the rest of us were looking forward to.

The eels lawyers did a pretty good job to extract the settlement, scorched earth policy.
Yes good luck to them . As to poor old Zac , well what can one say ? Seems as if the opinions of the media experts were worth as much as hot air ?

Perhaps they may bring back the wrestling at the ‘ Old Barn ‘ at Rushcutters Bay therefore giving Zac the opportunity to begin a career in yet another sport ? Other than that I really don’t care .

Yes, all the media bush lawyers chimed in and the bogus “ restraint of trade” rubbish.

I even had a post deleted for labelling Vlandys as “ a trade envoy for the Melbourne Storm”

Only joking….

Many of us here thought Zac and Melbourne were f**ked, even with our imperfect knowledge of the laws and events.

We should have emailed the storm an advice and sent a bill for $20k last year. Saved them a fortune…

Trusted himself.

He would be wealthier and I dare say happier had he reassessed his high opinion of his himself and stayed the distance at SGI.

Imagine a coach suggesting where you should play? What an outrage!

I recall in a by gone era when players were so absolutely pleased and proud to have made the Dragons 1st grade team , of course the same at the Magpies with the likes of VIC Hay , Noel Kelly , Peter Diamond and we cannot forget Arthur Summons as the would the boys of Balmain with their big names .

However , nowadays some players seem to believe that the team is all about them and as you have said Silverdale the
damn coach will not decide where he , the player himself has chosen to play .

The game has changed so much as has the wants and needs of players, but regardless no one player is bigger than the team , nor for that matter the terms of a contract , or release .

Well Said @Gareth67 .

Unfortunately this young generation are a different breed....

Look at the young kids terrorizing people with their e Bikes.
Zero respect for older people....started decades ago...
While traveling on the bus I would tell them to get up and give pensioners a seat , and they would look at me as if I was some kind of alien. Manners seem to be something that no longer exists..

Different times indeed....

P.S I have a close friend who has been in the teaching profession for years...leaving due to the above...Teachers are leaving in droves....

Yes, as a game we’ve kind of failed to instil the virtue and values of the club.

As @getsmarty says, parenting and cultural influences have probably got weaker.

The kinds of things you can see on line and become day to day.

The rise of social fortresses that distance other members of the community, the worship of greed and wealth over generosity and helping people.

Even Vlandys said that the game wants Lomax to play over his legal obligations, then he dropped that individualist line quick smart. But he believes in the power of the individual too.

Somewhat distant from the volunteers who keep the game where it is.

Bula is another self obsessed idiot. As each day passes, his power and influence over fans and members gets less and less.

His choking in the trials gave his critics a lot of heart.

“playing on one leg” someone uttered, which is code for one foot out the door!
a nice turn of phrase.

Lomax Missed Opportunity continues…

And with Zac, the terms were all made public. He should have insisted they were kept secret so his management team could have spun it in his favour.

He doesn’t have many fans as an individual, so any means of lifting his battered and bruised reputation should have been considered and clung onto.

Non Disclosure clauses are extremely common with these big media interest stories. Everyone wants to present their own version of the truth later.

If the non disclosure clause was missed, that’s not the best for Zac either.

He’s not having a very good day…

Some youngsters (?) of today seem to have inherited only the bad traits of their parents , such a shame . And of course the schools have become something of a battleground not only for the students themselves, but for the overworked, overwhelmed teacher .Can always remember my dear old mum telling myself and associated brood of siblings the following “ School days are the best days of your life , so cherish them “.

Of course I never had the grey matter to understand what cherish meant , I thought that she was referring to cherries. Still the behaviour of some of the young kids makes one wonder of just what their lives are going to be like once they are off a age to be an adult.

My friend gave up teaching a few years ago. Sad loss for the community.

His beef was with the system as much as the kids.

He had a couple of years in the bad boy school, helped that we was ex league player and could handle himself if ever needed ( not required, but the confidence was in his step).

Trying to get kids to concentrate and focus, I don’t know how he did it.

Junior is the candidate who comes to mind, not understanding the world and not encouraged to. It’s cost him and his family big time. 10 minutes or less of mayhem.

Of course the penalty, didn’t reflect the crime. Not exactly a reasonable deterrent for young idiots. That Brisbane kid took the cake for being beaten to death with a feather for almost killing that family.

The good fortune of the Toyota Camry.

Anyone missing old school values, I found this:

Zac is too cool for school to appreciate these guys, he’d want to wrestle one of them.

It would be shut down now, not because of the lack of safety equipment, but because it doesn’t have a gender neutral bathroom or vegan food choices.

He’s a pretty entitled bloke, he’d still be blaming Flanno for everything.

And given that he was far more receptive to Ryles’ orders to play where he was selected (and for less money), I think he had a bad falling out with Flanno.

Then you let him go without penalty, indicates you’d had enough of him.

The advisors would have been for squeezing the last drop of blood out of his deal, but the decision makers, just dumped him on the side of the rugby league road. Didn’t even slow down!

I think it will all come out one day in Flannos book after he retires. I’d love to help him write it, but I’m not an author!
