In court. You couldn’t make this up. He hasn’t even played a game for Wigan but he’s just been done for driving under the influence, doing a runner when the police stopped him and the car he was driving was also uninsured and didn’t have an MOT certificate (Ministry of Transport document to say the vehicle is roadworthy).

He’d be better off looking for a job in a circus that requires a clown.

Add him to the list of players who could have had a great, long career but blew it being stupid.

Then again, football has a way of giving these guys a million chances to come good if you’ve got talent.

Not sure if he has that anymore.

Best of luck to him

And therein lies the problem. Wigan have picked up a talented player for free and on less money than he’d earn if he wasn’t an idiot. Because he’s a good player clubs make excuses for them and think they can tame the bad boy. A lesser player would be binned or left to rot in the lower leagues. Wigan have already been let down without him pulling on a shirt in anger. It doesn’t look like Hardaker has learned his lesson. I just hope Wigan learn theirs.

I thought he'd been banned for 2 years?, when will he run out for Wigan?.

Ban was reduced on appeal and he was allowed to start training in September. Would assume that he'll be playing the preseason games, if the rehab spell goes to plan.

All this trouble for a very average player
We’ve had some very average players in SL who were NRL and Australia stars. Some players are more suited to one comp or the other. But then again I bet they were all washed up has beens by the time they landed in Europe. Surprising how many still went back to the NRL though.
