Eels pick up Taia from Newcastle

didn't the Knights pick up Taia from Parra?
or did Taia sign with the Knights get up there realise he hates Smithy and sign back with Parra?

Zeb Taia

Monday, 25 June 2007 - Newcastle Knights

The Newcastle Knights are proud to announce former Parramatta back rower, Zeb Taia has agreed to terms until at least the end of the 2010 season.

The 22 year-old has been granted a release from the Eels to join Newcastle mid-season and will attend his first training session tomorrow.

“He’s a second row specialist, can play lock, has good feet and he’s aggressive," said Knights Coach, Brian Smith.

“I’ve watched his progression since he joined Parramatta as an 18 year-old. He’s worked his way through the lower grades and has a lot of respect from the other players.

“At the moment we have the opportunity for him to further his future in a hurry because of the extent of our injury list and he could very well find himself in first grade very soon.”

Well I guess this is no surprise... Sad tho. I just hope Brian does right by him. I wonder if Feleti go in his ear.

This walkin out mid season crap has got to stop tho...

I'd be more than surprised if he doesn't play firstgrade within the month.

The Game against Newtown was always going to be his last and coach Hagan to the time out to have a one on one chat to him straight after the game where it appeared he was wishing him all the best for the future.

I doubt we'll get him this year, our cap is apparently stretched as it is for this season.

whenever you want to know anything about what's happening with your club, just ask us ;-)

Imo opinion he is a first grader, so i wish him all the best as he is behind Hindy, Robbo, Wagon etc. I guess Wagon signing for next year was the biggest indication that he would still be in P/L (or whatever it's gonna be) next year.......

I wish him all the best

I'm not so sure about that, he had 1.5 year deal to go and signed 3.5 year deal to switch clubs stright away, I think he was thinking more about his security rather firstgrade future tbh.

Look on the bright side. This gives the coaching staff the opportunity to blood a few of the JF forwards a run in PL.

Taia could well play 1st grade this week against Souths on Friday Night

Knights have a lot of injuries in their backrow as it is and Simpson could be missing as the Blues will be in camp

Lewis may get Zeb's lock position? Certianly deserves a shot. Or should i say Lowrie to lock and Lewis on the bench?

I heard a whisper that Rip Taylor firing up Justin Horo, telling him that this could be his big chance if he steps up.

don't rule it out, he's been playing some good footy.

Taia is on a 6 man bench for the Knights this weekend. He'll probably drop off on game day but Brian is telling him he's wanted.

isn't it amazing..

this weekend his playing against a coach who wouldn't give him a shot last year, the weeke after he's playing against another coach who also wouldn't give him a shot, if Zeb doesn't step up in his next 2 matches big time than the knights have wasted their money for 3 years.

TBH, if we didnt write into the release that he couldnt play against us, we let ourselves down.
