He was dead set horrible yesterday

McCrone is McCrone. You know you're not going to get a lot from him, Best you can hope for is that he directs the team around, kicks smart and not make mistakes. He's not going to be the difference between winning and losing.

If we want to win, the ball needs to be in the hands of Duges and Widdop like it was against the Panthers. They need to take ownership, the same way Norman and Jennings did against us.

Why oh why Mary directed all the play towards McCrone's side is anyone's guess?

Mary hasn't got a clue. We badly need a backline re-shuffle and someone to direct the forwards.

What I noticed from yesterday's game:
1) The line speed of the Parra attack....possibly off side but the Dragons should have either brought it to the attention of the refs or adopt it for themselves.
2) Unlike the Dragons who would attack one out, Parra always seemed to be in numbers and in formation.
3) The Dragons reverted to the defensive habit of moving 2 steps forward and then waiting for the Parra ball runner to come to them. Its astounding to watch Parra ball runner be allowed to run sideways looking for opportunities and runners to pass to without being confronted.
4) The backline defense is terrible and just like in the CS, we make it look like a training run for the opposition with our poor reads and sliding defense.
5) I was a critic of JDB and thought after last week that he had finally realised he needs to run at the defense.
He needs to forget about passing for a few weeks and just run straight and hard.
6) Apart from allowing Parra to move up in defense incredibly fast / early it seemed we were copping a few bad calls with any dropped ball going backwards being called a knock-on.

The coaches biggest failure last year and so far this year is not getting the team up for games....he needs to get them motivated and aggressive every week. Last year we last a couple of games against lame duck teams full of missing players because he allowed the team to get complacent.

Come on Giboz
Week 1 was attacking plan L week 2 was attacking plan R and week 3 will be attacking plan C
We have to have lots of variety so you can't go to the Left 2 weeks in a row can you?
Maybe he should have gone left, centre then right to confuse them.

Thought it was just me thinking some of those dropped balls actually went back. Seems almost every dropped ball is called a knock on.

Thought JDB defended well. Vaughan played well. Ah Mau did well. Duges and Widdop went OK.

The rest.....well....

Aitken has been found out many times in defence. 4 nations they caught him out. Others are right Mary should have shuffled. Thompson could have been redeployed. I agree with the call for Milne and Mann.

Nene is not blameless in this. Nene and his centre need to work better together in defence.

Interesting stat for the game with Packer the only forward to hit triple figures for metres run with 100 on the dot. Week before 5 of our starting pack surpassed 100 metres. Eels countered our go forward perfectly with 4 of their forwards able to crack over 100 metres.

McDonald's got no hope because he's being let down by Aitken who has nfi in defence. He can't stay out on Radradra because he has to come in. Aitken is useless.

How do you explain away Bevan French's try? MacDonald should've waved a white flag as he went by!

Embarrassing.

Couldn't agree more. Aitken has been a weak link in defence for some time but I didnt think Nene came out of this game looking much better. As a defensive combo, they were worse than the sum of the parts.

In terms of shuffling the team, the coach should have had the nous to yank Aitken off and put Thompson out to centre before too much damage was done. Last year Flanagan took Chad Townsend off when he was having a shocker in the semis. But that would mean having a pro-active coach. MacGregor seems happy to watch a train wreck unfold.

If you go back and watch the start of the game, French (who I have huge wraps on) started very poorly, and we had a few chances to compound his lack of confidence. Instead we kept dropping the ball and opened up the try line for him.

As with most games last year, the chances were there when it counted, and we couldn't take them.

If the Board appoint Hornby or Young as head coach, sure there will be an uprising. They both are part of the problem - just like Mary was part of the problem with Price.

I suggest Hornby and Young let go of the apron strings and gain some coaching experience - separate from each other - in the ESL. Even then, as with N Brown, after some success over there, come back to coach another club other than the Dragons.

It seems Norman tore us apart playing injured.

BRAD Arthur has revealed a detail about star halfback Corey Norman’s hamstring injury that makes his man of the match performance against the Dragons plain frightening.

After starting the season on fire, Norman will miss Parramatta’s Friday night clash with the Titans due to a hamstring strain that went undetected until the Eels’ team was announced on Tuesday.

For the second straight week, the star No.7 was exceptional as he pulled the strings for the Eels on the way to a 34-16 victory over round one’s most impressive outfit.

Speaking to the Fox Sports’ NRL Market Watch podcast this morning, Arthur put that performance in perspective, revealing Norman played in second gear for the last 55 minutes after feeling his hamstring go.

“It’s just a strain that he did 15 minutes before half-time on the weekend,” Arthur said.

“In that first 25 or 30 minutes he was playing really fast into the line and just a little twinge there and he removed himself a little bit from the game and just directed us around the park.

“With the five day turnaround we just thought it was too tight and too much of a stretch to put him at risk in round three.”

Sitting atop the ladder after two impressive wins, the Eels have the luxury of leaving out their best player, with Arthur putting his trust in the halves combination that closed out 2016 as veteran Jeff Robson comes into the side to partner five-eighth Clint Gutherson.

“Robbo and Gutho played the last eight games together at the back end of last season so we’re more than comfortable that we’ll get the job done with those two,” Arthur said.

Parramatta were off side all day,at least 1.5 MTS and got penalised once. Reffeeing was diabolical.

Against the Panthers, we had total forward domination. This was an example of a game where our forwards were nullified. Eels were up in our faces all game. We weren't completely dominated, Sims, Ah Mau and Vaughan had some good charges. But Parra were up for this game.

The big difference was their big guns delivered. Norman, Jennings and Semi all delivered when it mattered. It's the same formula for most teams. Have your gun players fire and you'll win most weeks.

This has been our problem for a long time now. Duges and Widdop will have a good game here and there but they are too few and far between.

Hence I think we need another big name signing before Hunt gets here to deliver in the big moments.
Yes for sure,
Jack Bird he's the man,we need. We have to buy him back.We all know he's one of our juniors, but alas our imbecilic management hasn't a football brain between them, and in their limited wisdom let him go to the sharks.
So swallow your massive egos for once and bit the bullet, just get him back you bunch of frauds.

Yes maybe I am a negative nancy but watching Titans, with a whole host of no names, challenge Parramatta here just shows what a good coach can achieve. Neil Henry, has managed to get his team of youngsters to really put it to the Eels, and they even look like winning at the moment. He is not considered to be one of the greater coaches in the comp, but really has showed McGregor up here imo. Maybe Parra are missing Norman, but the Titans look fairly fluid in attack, and the Eels look mighty uncomfortable.
