A Canberra man has appeared in court after allegedly selling cocaine to two high-profile rugby league players after the Anzac Test last night.

Kiwis captain Jesse Bromwich and fellow player Kevin Proctor allegedly joined Canberra man Adrian Mark Crowther outside the Cube nightclub in Canberra's city centre.

Police allegedly observed Crowther on CCTV video preparing a white powder on his phone, before handing it to the two men, who rolled up bank notes and consumed the substance.

According to court documents, Crowther was wearing an All Blacks scarf at the time of the alleged incident.

While both players were named in court, neither has been charged with an offence.

The men were in town to play the Anzac Test at GIO Canberra Stadium against the Kangaroos.

Crowther was also charged with possession of MDMA and was granted bail despite police objections.

He will be back in court later this month.

The Kiwis and NRL have been contacted for comment, as have the Melbourne Storm and the Titans, who Bromwich and Proctor play for.

Just came across a media statement from NZRL's Facebook page:

We are working with the NRL while investigations into the alleged incident are on-going and New Zealand Rugby League will not be making any comment until more information becomes available.

...
If the allegations are proven to be true New Zealand Rugby League will be taking action immediately.

The NRL has been made aware of a number of serious matters involving the alleged use of illicit substances.

The NRL Integrity Unit will work with all the parties involved to understand the nature of the allegations and what consequences may flow under the NRL rules if the allegations are determined to be accurate.

"The Game has taken steps over many years to highlight the risks associated with the use of illicit drugs," NRL CEO Todd Greenberg said.

"We will continue that work but ultimately individuals are accountable for their own choices, and the League's capacity to eliminate the use of illicit drugs by its participants faces similar challenges to that faced by society."

I know many say it's not fair on the players,
BUT
If you choose to be a professional sports person in today's day and age (its no longer the 50s-90s) you basically can not drink socially (assuming they have made a bad choice after a few drinks???) or have any involvement with illegal drugs.
You are paid WAY more than the people who are buying the merchandise and paying for tickets, if you want to do that, take a normal job that pays normal wagea. Its a sacrifice you just have to look to make.

Anyway, nothing will happen to Kidwell after the stilnox and red bull at World cup, Kearny kept his job!

Time to open up applications to best applicants, not just Kiwi born.
An assistant can instil culture side if needed.

I'd say we will be getting a new captain!
Captain Coke may not get selected again?

Don't jump the gun. White powder could be flour. Maybe just baking? Cookies? Anyone got the munchies? Oh wait, they inhaled it??? f**king idiots. If it's proven to be true. Innocent until proven guilty so don't take it as gospel yet.

If they are guilty though... They can f**k off. Sick of seeing league dragged through the mud.

No you're totally right. Fair or not. Say you work in a bank.... Can't drink or do drugs in that workplace can you? Or most any other job either. It's their f**king job and if they wanna do that (and they all f**king know it's banned) then say bye bye PERMANENTLY..

Todd Greenberg was just interviewed at halftime Fiji v Tonga.
They have the power to ask ASADA to spot test anyone.
Asked if he would ask to have Bromwich and Proctor tested to explore that avenue if needed. (I guess incase no criminal case.)
He said they have the power to do so. (Didn't say he had).

Talked about conducting over 2000 drug tests.
A society problem, we are trying to take the lead on it.

There's worse crimes, far worse.

I would've tried it back in the day if a) I wasn't such a tightarse, b) I didn't have to snort it up the friggin' nose, and c) I had a bigger ego.
I would've tried had I seen it. Done weed, oil, hash, speed, meth and LSD but never cocaine.

Thing is, Jessies the captain of the New Zealand Rugby League Kiwis team, that should be an honour. Not 'oh we lost, Kev! thats us, snorts on'. Thats like WTF?
