Dugan was a good player, especially in the early days. Very physical and put his body on the line plenty of times. No surprises he copped so many injuries in his career.

His off field record is revolting. The NRL won't miss him.

Yes mate but his contract with the club finished at the end of this season. There is no annual leave for him as he doesn’t have a contracted off and pre season with the sharks. Even if he did the non pay period would still be from last week til November… a significant amount of money saved.

A 200k saving out of a near 4 million $ contract is hardly anything to be too happy about. He was done when Saints didn't want him anymore.

Not to be sneezed at when you can front load and use 200k next year instead. That the difference between resigning a tolman or taking an unwanted sims.

Best thing Saints did was get rid of him , Pity they lost Mat ,dread the day his playing against Dragons he will enjoy scoring against the stupid coach who let him go I think.

He was a good player at his best but probably the worst player of all time in the 200+ club games, 10+ Origins and 10+ internationals club. He is to the 200-10-10 what John Morris is to the 300 game club.

From the site of the Fair Work Ombudsman:

Serious misconduct

When an employee is terminated on the grounds of serious misconduct, the employer doesn't have to provide any notice of termination. However, the employer does have to pay the employee all outstanding entitlements such as payment for time worked, annual leave and sometimes long service leave. Whether an employer needs to pay out long service leave depends on where the entitlement comes from, usually state or territory long service leave laws.

Quote what ever you like . Sharks saved money on the cap period.

Sacked by two clubs but “wouldn’t do anything different“! Dckhead to the end. Staggering that clubs kept throwing silly money at him.

I had a friend who stopped following the game around 2013. In 2018 we were at the local when he saw Dugan on a screen in the background and had 2 questions, 1. Who the hell is that? 2. Josh Dugan is still alive?
