I don’t think seeking a release 7 times before round 6 and visiting another coach for dinner about your future plans is being a team player.

He’s not sending the right message out.

Other players are trying their guts out, doing their job and aren’t stuffing their faces with lamb stew.

He could have shut all this down but he didn’t.

Because he’s unhappy.

Hes a got a set on Flanno. Flannos not going anywhere, he just arrived!

SGI has made him wealthy. No gratitude for that, just grumblings!

He's a football player not a carrier pigeon. His job isn't to send messages. His job is to play football.

As for other players doing their jobs, you don't concede seven tries in 40 minutes against the Cowboys because all your players are doing their jobs.

Lomax has had his ordinary days as well.

If his job is to play football, why is he running off to Brads place?

Being a footy player is not just about playing footy.

If it was, Amone would still be playing.

He gets very well paid and his contract covers a lot more than having a go.

Why he hates flanno and the current regime is the nub of it.

I expect he’s been straight with them about this, they can’t find a common ground anywhere…and that’s why they’ve released him.

He is a good player, I think they would have tried pretty hard to sort it out, but he simply won’t come to the table.

So they smashed him.

I have this nagging feeling there is a silent, but disruptive, rift in the player group, Yes, at training, and on field, very hard to label Lomax as a non team player. The fact that Lomax has the ability to leave off-field dramas off-field does not mean his influence will not affect others game day.

I'm guessing the two main groups are based around Hunt and Lomax and of course there is always a neutral group. It may even explain Blake Laurie's form (Lomax camp)

I've seen Hunt give Lomax a couple of right royal sprays on field this year. Such displays are usually not so public between captain and the continuous best on-field performer, even if the mistake deserved a spray..

It's so subtle that I think it's taken coach a while to identify, but I'm sure something is going on that we are not fully aware of.

Due to South's Saga we did not hear too much about Eels and Brad Arthur this week. If what media says is correct and South have decided to part ways with Demetriou after this weekend and then Eels lose to Cowboys, then attentions will turn to Brad Arthur after Raiders 41 points on Eels. So if Brad Arthur gets chopped there is no guarantee that incoming coach will want Zack.

Brad is in danger I’d say.

He’s got to change things up.

I wonder if the old “coach must be Brad” clause came up during zacs dinner…Maybe by the time dessert kicked in.

In my many years of enjoying our poetic and wonderful game, I’ve learned that panic is a strong and natural instinct that simply won’t be denied.

@Gronk and our LU eels buddies have a petition doing the rounds.

100% agree this is all about healing a player rift, it's been mentioned a few times that zac and a few of the players don't get on well.. I can only assume that the fact zac is the one leaving, and flanno is happy to accommodate it, means that removing lomax might fix a lot of the issue.

Whether jdb gets re-signed is the other question.. It might be personality based... A senior player still without a new contract.. However it could just be a real mismatch in what flanno values a near retiring prop at, versus the 750k that he was signed on.. Would be hard to face that 50% paycut. But in jacks case I don't think anyone else will sign him either.

Yeah, It’s a younger man’s game unless you have those special skills and/or game intelligence.

They did not even talk about salary by the looks of things so god knows what Brad told him. Can you see Brad saying, "Hey Zac, we want you but you are clearly not worth 800k, you are worth much less". That surely would not be enticing him to jump ship. I feel Zac has been shafted. Promised the earth and will get none of it.

The Eels were awful against the Tigers then the Raiders. Lucky Souths crisis is keeping them out of the spot light. They were in a GF 2 years ago and sliding backwards fast. A 1 man team by the looks of it. No Moses no chance.

My mate is a Parra fan and hates Brad Arthur. Too structured and does not let the players venture to much out of the playbook. Dull footy. When they stray from the plan goes off you big time and on the outer. Zac should talk to Nathan Brown and his love from Brad Arthur.

The answer may lie within the 41-8 flogging by the Raiders on Sunday

I don't think adding a specialist right centre, come wannabe fullback, changes much about that.
And I thought Penisini was a rare shining light for the Eels, as he has been for most of the season.

Well I'd take Lomax over Penisini every day of the week.......No brainer.

Not me.
If they were both on the market and I was looking to entice one of them to my club, maybe.
But I wouldn't be signing Lomax to replace Penisini, or run the risk of losing him.

Lomax is in his seventh season of NRL and is, IMHO, yet to realise his potential.
He can switch it on at times, but is far too inconsistent.
Something I get the impression Flanno has been trying to address.

Penisini has half the experience but looks to me like he's starting to really find his feet.
I see way more upside there.

Anyway, who cares?
If the Eels screw up the balance of their roster we're all happy, right?

Yeah you could be right.

Or Brad says look “we will have to back-end you due to cap issues” or come up with multiple fibs and other bullshit to get him across the line.

Even the dinner at home, that’s Brads deeply personal space. People he’s been working with for years can’t get through his front gate.

I think he would add a lot to their squad, not at any cost, but Brad desperately needs a change up. He’s fighting for his job at the moment

Now not just in terms of actual players, but also the selling of the hope. The perception that he’s some kind of walking miracle who will bring home the bacon.

I think Lomax is good enough to be regarded as a “ game changing hope player” so far as the eels are concerned.

And when he arrives will be under extraordinary pressure.

But on the whole, I’m flanno all the way and if he’s cut Lomax, he’s cut Lomax.

The game v Manly, best SGI game for a long time against formidable opponents who spanked the Smug. It was a relief because it showed there is a pathway out of the quagmire of the last few years.

I liked JDB a lot better before he started on with his nonsense that he was talking to the Warriors during his stand down crisis.

Given everything the club had done for him and the loyalty of your players, i was furious.

They were prepared to strike and bring the game to its knees. Momentarily, but it was a solid gesture and would have cost the sport millions of dollars with no doubt serious consequences for the comrades.

For me, the JDB Warriors frolic, it was one of those “ where were you moments” I don’t quite know why.

I was driving up to Port Macquarie for a holiday and it was on the wireless. I was on my own and swore a few times.

I’ve forgiven him, I’ve met him, he was a very nice guy, but I can’t forget it.

Anyone who did what he did to his pregnant wife followed by hiding under the bed at bque gate doesn’t deserve to get forgiven, he should be so grateful to be playing NRL again on a hefty wage.
Tbh I don’t care much for him and can’t wait for him to either retire or leave
