BTW I just joined. I really hope the Reds join with the Bears in an 18 team comp in 2015.

Then I can enjoy flogging you with TWO teams!

This is asupporters group run by the fans for the fans.

We also have bid memberships if you really want to part with some cash!

Not to sound like a smart arse PR, genuinely curious -
How are you guys going (numbers wise) with paid-up members? And over how long a period have they been signed up? I assume, like us, most people who sign up are happy to support the bid, so I guess retention of members is good too?
You guys have a pretty good range of products/merchandise for sale on the website too. How is that going?

Hi, not a problem, it shouldn't be a c**k measuring exercise! We have had about 1500 generally. It is a yearly membership and up till now the difficulty in actually joining (it wasn't available to do online) has, imo, stunted the take up. The WARL have finally got it together and now have it online and some decent merchandise to go with it so I expect the numbers to go up a lot over the next year. The online store has only been open for a few weeks but I reckon it will do well if they keep up with some good gear.

I don't think the continual putting back of the expansion date and lack of firm announcement is helping as many fans are of the "wait and see" and some old timers still bare the scars of the last Reds! Hopefully the IC will announce expansion is definate in the New year and this will see us really kick it up 5 gears.

We don't have the advantage of being a RL area so things like stalls at shopping centres are no good for us and we have to be much cleverer about how we connect and target the 50K+ strong RL fans that are in WA and make sure they are on board with us and then get the remaining 1.9mill excited about the NRL!

I'll get my cryogenics chamber organised shall I?

Both Parra and the Bears will lift the trophy before that. But if it happens, remember this foundation member when the free beer is handed out, ok?

The name, the 'red army' can be promoted and marketed easily. It is a good name with a good colour that will take off easily. Carn the Reds.

Your right Perth Red, I mean with the populations of eastern Europe, the former USSR and China , as well as any any other countries that have had or have ' welcomed' a red army, you guys should shyte it in !! I’m sure most of the migrants and their descendants from these places , have been waiting for an opportunity to do a little reminiscing from the old days - lol....Maybe target Sydney uni and Newtown for sure, they have heaps of hard core fashionistas.... I can see it now, the manning bar at Sydney uni will be crawling with the typical barefoot yuppie commo loving members, wearing their old Che t-shirts and new red army members' caps, before getting up the road to sip overpriced coffee together in Newtown, and talk about what a great country Cuba is and how they should visit there instead of the US or UK for their next o/s trip.

Yeah Tonearm - how ignorant of you - i mean the whole world knows the red army is something to do with perth rugby league , and has no connotations implied or otherwise to the russian or chinese armies - lol
