    AFL Round 9

Kev, I quite like that old Pool top. What McGuire fails to mention is the alternate Collingwood guernseys of the past few years. OK, they were black and white, but not always the so-called 'traditional' regular stripes. If, as Mark Williams pointed out, clubs use different coloured...

Nothin like a Four And Twenty

Billy Clay? Struth, what the bugger is a billy clay? The archetypal Calder Valley 'growler', that was a Billy Clay's. Unfortunately, Billy Clay's is no longer with us (Loved their cream horns). Waites pies were their main rival, they have been taken over by some multi-tyke conglomorate...

    I love the mud

Mud, who'd have it? Well some Sydneysiders it seems. Of course mud comes in many forms, some of which almost causes frost-bite, that's my favourite type, something Northern European, local, quite solid. trench-foot enducing!

Nothin like a Four And Twenty

The pie looks good, although a Billy Clay's was always my fave. What's with the hair, I don't think I've seen anything like that in at least 15 years.

    AFL Round 9

Kev, I stumbled upon a site a few weeks - Toffs.com - back that specialises in replica football shirts from yesteryear. This is their Liverpool 1920's shirt:-

    League and the Jewish community

I used to have a football book, it was probably printed in the late 60's. Inside there was a section on the Spurs side of the late 50's to mid 60's with a few crowd photo's. The crowd shot's which judging by the fashions date to theearly 60's show lot's of Asian faces.

    Eurovision Song Contest

I can't believe that probably for the first time in about 25 years, I sat through most of it. Shame we didn't get relegated. How come you Antipodeans got to watch such high culture.....;)

    League and the Jewish community

"I've heard stories that West Brom are gaining an extensive Asian supporter base some of who have even turned the tables on the Combat 18 types." There is a very large Asian population in the WestMidlands area, so it's quite possibly true. Leicester City have a sizeable Asian supporter base...

    AFL Round 9

Kev,good to seeTige's are still top cats in Victoria. Shame about the Hawks, I'd like to see them back in the frame, doesn't look like happening this season does it. Champions League? My hope is for Milan to win. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the Rosaneri. Should be interesting to...

God - What Have I Done To Deserve Being A Parramatta Supporter?

You might miss out on the premiership for the next two or three seasons, you might even be wooden spooners for the next decade. Just imagine the situation if relegation and promotion was the system used in Australia. It's a case of realising what you have got, not what you haven't. I...

    League and the Jewish community

"With regard to gav-bt's point regarding the perpetrators of anti Jewish abuse; I'd imagine that the reason British Muslisms don't tend to come out with the Auchwitz shit is because most of them are of Pakistani origin and the Israel thing isn't as prevalent an issue. Is this a fair comment to...

    AFL Round 9

Great write up Kev. I'm now without Satellite and therefore no more two hours of AFL per week. There's just a50 minute highlights progamme on C5 at 4:45am every Thursday morning to rely on and that's provided the NHL play-offs don't run into overtime.

    Rugby League with clogs on.......

Willow, going off some of his posts over at TRL, Yanto seems to have played the game at a fairly high standard.Has he posted over here? see, my memory is still crap. Good to see the game is making some progress over in Holland. It seems they're not immune from the prejudice that affects...

From Yanto:- The NNRLB (Nederlandse Nationale Rugby League Bond)yesterday signed a three year sponsorship deal with amajorsponsor out of Den Haag, the countries political capital. The deal will run from the York International Nine's on the weekend of 21/22nd of June till the year 2006...

    League and the Jewish community

Thanks for those links Willow. I found the first one a couple of days ago, the second one looks quite interesting. The word Maccabi seems common within the Jewish community and to a lesser extent, Happoel. I presume they're both Hebrew -anyone know what they mean? Someone mentioned an Easts...
