There is a difference in NRL to international rules. If a player with his foot on the line touches a ball in the in goal, the NRL considers him to have taken the ball out, whether it's moving or not. International RL rules, if a player touches a moving ball in the in goal whilst he has a...

    Nearly Sport 2014

Yes I do. But if you tell me who you are bidding on I'll make sure to avoid them and bid on someone else instead

Thank the kind people of Public Comp 7. I advertised it there to get the comp started and they jumped on it.

Maloney went for $2k more than minimum and you are angry you missed out on him? Sorry for taking him from you with an unrealistic super bid

    Round 9 & 10 Schedule

I'm not convinced it would be much worse than it is now. But I think there are 2 issues with the draw that need to be fixed. 1) Games not scheduled in advance, makes it hard to plan going to games consistently. The game has a big push to convert casual fans to members, and I think changing...

    Round 9 & 10 Schedule

Parra v Dogs is going to be a big drawing and rating game no matter where the teams are on the table. Nein will want to show it on Friday night no matter when they schedule it. If you forced them to schedule all their games before round 1, and then compared it to the rolling schedule we have...

    Round 9 & 10 Schedule

Its one of the reasons why 9 should have no issues agreeing to a fixed schedule (as long as they retain the right to pick games they want) It doesn't matter if they choose the schedule in January or July - one Friday night game will be the Broncos, and the other will be one of a handful of...

    NRL Finals System Changed

My issue isn't playing teams ranked above you. Its with your week 2 opposition being ranked higher than the week 2 opposition of the team you just beat. ie 2,3,4,8 win. Team 4 (winner) plays team 1 Team 5 (loser) plays team 8 Given 4 beat 5 its not a great system if they get a harder week 2...

    NRL Finals System Changed

This has been mentioned a few times in this thread, but it should be made clear that this would be ridiculous. If teams 2,3 and 8 win, then the winner of the 4v5 match would have to play the minor premiers away, and the loser would get a home match against the 8th best team. If team A beats...

    Nearly Sport Private Competition

You can place bid on any player whenever you want - 24 hours after the first bid is placed that player will sign with whoever has offered the most money. Repeat until you have 25 players. So there will be a bunch of players finish their bidding between about 3:20-4pm on Monday. No bidding...

    Nearly Sport Private Competition

Any bid placed now will finish 24 hours after its placed (weekends don't count) So players will start finishing at around 3:23pm on Monday - but it won't be all at once, there will be a staggered finish based on when the bids got placed. You can see if you place the first bid or not on a...

    Nearly Sport Private Competition

You have until 3:22 to change your bids - but bidding is silent so you won't know if your bid is highest or not until 3:22 (at which point it will be too late to change your bid) And as Aussiest1st said, search by club and/or position to make sure you find the players you want. I've signed up...

Wilkie, Xenophon slam Nine's 'pro-pokies' footy hosts

All that has a much higher barrier to entry than playing the pokies. First you need to have a phone/net betting account set up (OMG! - a license to punt!!, its Unaustralian) then you need to know what events are on, who the competing teams/horses/etc are, and which ones are likely to win. Then...

    CEOs: Let's change jersey numbers

Just further on this point. Its easy to tell what position someone is by the number on their back. Fullback is the guy in the number 1 jersey. Unless he is wearing 4, 6, 19 or 2. Wingers are numbers 2 (unless he's at fullback) and 5. And 22. And 18. And 16 Each team has 2 centres. They wear...

    2011 NRL Teams - Round 14

Hey Guv, I think the 'light on' comment was regards to the weight of the Cowboys bench, not the playing strength. Who needs props anyway

    Gould on the money

This is the problem. You can come up with a schedule that prevents issues of player burnout and rep players missing club games. Or you can come up with a schedule that gives TV stations enough games every week. You can't have both. The NRL lets TV networks have a large say in running the game...

Has the actual draw been released yet - shouldn't this have been announced yesterday?

Week 1 Finals + membership packages

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but couldn't see it and think its worthy of attention. Ticketek is offering packages including tickets to week 1 finals matches + membership for 2011. Prices vary across clubs, but some of them are excellent value, especially the Roosters which works...

Is anyone a fan of the NRL being split into conferences?

They used to, but now teams get to select a list of preferred opponents and the NRL matches this as much as possible. When split on last years ladder it wasn't 1,3,5,7... and 2,4,6... rather 1,4,5,8,9,12,13,16 and 2,3,6,7,10,11,14,15 in order to make the 2 pools of theoretically equal strength...
