Cronulla is facing a $10,000 fine for failing to register Leon Bott prior to its 38-32 NRL loss to Sydney Roosters.
Bott, who was released from Brisbane to join the Sharks, was called into the starting line-up against the Roosters after fullback Toshio Laiseni succumbed to a hamstring injury before the game.
The Sharks, who have five working days to respond to the breach notice, will have half the fine suspended if there are no further breaches of a similar nature within a 12-month period.
