something along the lines of...

1 - Lance Hohaia
2 - Krisnan Inu
3 - Joel Moon
4 - Jerome Ropati
5 - Manu Vatuvei
6 - James Maloney
7 - Brett Seymour
8 - Sam Rapira
9 - Aaron Heremaia
10 - Russell Packer
11 - Feliti Mateo
12 - Simon Mannering
13 - Michael Luck

14 - Shuan Berrigan
15 - Ben Matulino
16 - Jacob Lillyman
17 - Lewis Brown

but there's a bit of depth in the squad so this is far from concrete. Ukuma Ta'i will probably feature somewhere.

How about the size of that bench. The Raiders will have some expectation on them this year & rightly so. That team has more potential to explode than Bunnies Man upon sighting Greg Inglis in his ample flesh.

Best 17 in the comp. A handful of stars from Toyota cup last year and George Burgess will be knocking on the door for opportunities so it'll keep the first 17 on their toes.

Superstar talents.
Hardened veterans.
Exciting young players with limitless potential.

2011 premiers.

Souths have a strong squad but will always struggle with the big guns with ordinary halves!

There are a few players in that squad which would struggle to get a run at many other clubs. The main names that spring to mind are Rhys Wesser, Dylan Farrell, Fetuli Talanoa and Ben Ross. They wouldn't be in the Panthers top 17 atleast.

Dylan Farrell scored a hattrick on debut. He's the next superstar centre of the game. I see a lot of Inglis in him.

As for the rest, I said it's the best 17, as in the best 17 man team. Not the best 17 players in the NRL. Or it would be QLD v NSW v South Sydney or Australia v NZ v South Sydney. Ofcourse some of our players wouldn't make it in some other teams first 17. That's the case for every team in the NRL.

And every team in the NRL has some strengths and some weaknesses, and if Chris Sandow and John Sutton are our biggest weakness...it's like saying Miranda Kerr is ugly because her toes are too long or something silly like that.

In the grand scheme of things 2 halves that led you to the 2nd most tries in the comp (before Inglis) being your biggest weakness only says you have a lot of strengths.

Take Inglis out and thats a very average backline.
They will be contenders but you go on like that team is up there with the 07 Storm, 94 Raiders and 98 Broncos in terms of roster talent. Not even anywhere near close.

The Rabbitohs can certainly put points on most teams... but they have so far failed to stop the opposition from scoring more... If you were able to claim second best defensive team in the comp (before Inglis), you would be closer to having the best 17.. as it is that honour belongs to the 2010 premiers....

Big f*cking deal. Every year there are a number of players that have exceptional debuts, who are meant to be superstars of the game etc. and end up going nowhere. I'm not saying he couldn't be a future superstar... but at the moment he's just another kid with potential that would struggle to get a run at most clubs. As nearly every club has a few blokes like him waiting for a shot.

There are plenty of teams with stronger and better balanced top sides then that. The forward pack is awesome, the halves are solid at best and the backline is weak. Hardly anywhere near a best 17.

When a quarter of your team would struggle to get a run at most other clubs... it's not the best 17 in the NRL. As an example, the Dragons have a roster where pretty much every player and some of their depth players would be able to go to another club and find a spot in the top 17.

Souths have a solid squad. Definitely top 8 quality and if everyone fires probably even top 4. But it's nowhere near the best 17 in the NRL.
