This would be my QLD side for this year.

1.Billy Slater
2.Yow Yeh (pending return)
3.Brent Tate
4.Greg Inglis
5.Darius Boyd
6.Johnathan Thurston
7.Cooper Cronk
8.Matt Scott
9.Cameron Smith
10.David Shillington
11.Ashley Harrison
12.Corey Parker
13.Nate Myles

14.Matt Ballin
15.Sam Thaiday
16.Ben Hannant
17.Josh McGuire

Ballin would only be used if Smith either gets injured or needs a rest. Harrison covers the centres and the halves (indirectly). Gillett is not Origin standard and Taylor is a moron. Barba would be interesting for impact but there's no where to play him (no way I'd move Slater and if I did it'd only be for Inglis). Hodges is garbage at Origin.

I'm not as confident about Jharal, I'd go with Justin O'Neil.

Thaiday ahead of Parker & I'm not satisfied with the Ballin selection.

Why put him in the side then, you don't rest Smith in an Origin game.

I would however pick Ballin if Smith was not available as he did the job in game 1 2010, McCullough is still way off and doesn't even play 80 minutes yet.

I like Thaiday but his form last year was disgraceful, particularly in Origin. Parker did an excellent job starting in Game 3 and I think he's the overall better player. Sam would be better used for impact than Parker IMO.

Agree Thaiday is on thin ice, Taylor and Gillett don't deserve to be there with the shit they dished up last year.

McGuire seems a formality, hard as nails.

Because Smith is the one player who, if injured, we cannot replace sufficiently without a proper acting half. If he got injured we'd be completely f**ked. Who would you have replace him with no specialist dummy-half in the team? Gillett, Barba? f**k that.

NSW continually fail to respect the importance of props. QLD ought not return the favour. 4 props is the go. Big games you need big men.

I'm willing to back Sam. If form isn't warranted then sure put him on the bench but he has more upside than Parker.

Early days for predictions, but I highly doubt Thaiday will be on the bench.

Harrison may not find a role as I don't think the selectors are not finished with Taylor yet. Although I do agree he has never demonstrated anything in rep footy and lacks the mindset for it anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Melbourne three-quarters play a role in the series at some point also.

Taylor will never play Origin again. Parker will be there. Harrison might not. Sam will be there. Hopefully Yow Yeh will break something else.

Needs more Te'o and Papalii.

I'm concerned with the lack of quality in our backup outside backs.

Nielson, Graham and O'Neil being the best available.

It would be a hell of a comeback if Yow Yeh played for the Maroons this year.
No hope .Some posters are under the illusion that he will come back & play the same as pre injury.
Its not just the Physical injury it is also the Psychological side of it.It will be 18 months before he gets back to near his pre injury level,& that is big IF.

When Matty Bowen had his 2nd knee reconstruction,i remember Tim Horan commenting(he had the same)& saying getting back to what you were is far more mental than physical.
You have to convince yourself, you can run, step, jump etc (like you used to do),but your body is saying NO.It does not want to injure or feel pain like that.

I wish him well but i dont think he will be anywhere near SOO this yr.

Any possibility we might re-employ the services of a certain Mr S Berrigan again? Could certainly fill in for Smith should he get injured, as well as a plethora of other positions, and can be used as a 2nd rower/dummy half if no injuries occur?

He'll be flat out getting a regular FG gig with the Broncos. A Qld spot is well out of reach

I'm pretty sure he's looking at a mid-season return, so it would be too late anyway.

The kid just needs to focus on getting some of his speed and confidence back. Origin wouldn't even be on his radar I reckon.

Pending if he puts his hand up, I'd throw Gagai in there as well.

Yeah I remember reading somewhere recently he won't be back until halfway through the year. Just getting back into FG when he finally does will be a blessing after that horrendous injury
