that's about a third of successful run chases in the 4th innings

Be interesting to see how it compares with other sides to fully understand were we are at with this

madunit do you have those stats? :)

Australia has never chased more than 400 to win. Highest was 369 against Pakistan in Hobart in 99 (Gilchrist and Langer's partnership).

Australia's batting is full of rank amateurs AND South Africa are #1 in the world.

Stands to reason they thrashed us by 231 runs.

What was South Africa's excuse in losing by 281 runs in the first test?

Ok best I can do late at night is this.

Records for each country when chasing a total in the 4th innings, with the total required to win is 100 runs or more (In order from best win % to worst)

Australia 72 wins in 203 chases @ 35.47%
South Africa 33 wins in 106 chases @ 31.13%
England 71 wins in 267 chases @ 26.59%
Pakistan 25 wins in 95 chases @ 26.32%
West Indies 34 wins in 148 chases @ 22.97%
Sri Lanka 11 wins in 54 chases @ 20.37%
India 26 wins in 134 chases @ 19.40%
New Zealand 18 wins in 110 chases @ 16.36%
Zimbabwe 3 wins in 19 chases @ 15.79%
Bangladesh 1 win in 18 chases @ 5.56%

This next one is win % when using wins and draws figures only. I like to call it Win v Loss %

Australia 72 wins, 77 losses @ 48.32%
South Africa 33 wins, 42 losses @ 44.00%
Pakistan 25 wins, 39 losses @ 39.06%
England 71 wins, 113 losses @ 38.59%
West Indies 34 wins, 61 losses @ 35.79%
India 26 wins, 56 losses @ 31.71%
Sri Lanka 11 wins, 24 losses @ 31.43%
New Zealand 18 wins, 42 losses @ 30.00%
Zimbabwe 3 wins, 11 losses @ 21.43%
Bangladesh 1 win, 12 losses @ 7.69%

Team with more draws than wins
Pakistan - 31 draws, 25 wins
England - 83 draws, 71 wins
West Indies - 53 draws, 34 wins
India - 51 draws, 26 wins
Sri Lanka - 19 draws, 11 wins
New Zealand - 50 draws, 18 wins
Zimbabwe - 5 draws, 3 wins
Bangladesh - 5 draws, 1 win

Teams with more wins than draws
Australia - 72 wins, 53 draws
South Africa - 33 wins, 31 draws
