Eyeing Yaya Toure apparently. Need more than just a new DM at the back tho.

I think Henry will do well in La Liga, but don't think this is the end of Barca's spending this summer. Eto'o wants to play with Henry, so unless the club think otherwise, he stays. Messi will too. The question mark is Ronaldinho. But I reckon they'll hang on to all three.

After all the talks about record deals and what not over the years re: Henry, why is he going for a piddling 16 million????

If he fails in Spain, will you be there to say I told you so? It wouldn't surprise if he was something of a failure (like Shevchenko), because he'll be 30, and coming off some injuries. Age and injury are never good things for a player who had great pace in his prime.

I certainly wouldn't be ruling out a couple of 30 goal seasons in La Liga and Henry taking out every award and title going, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he's slightly past his prime now.

Now, having said all that..............:x::)fist:.....if he goes, some big decisions will need to be made in my life. I may even have to consider a permanent username change.

it wouldn't be the same, we'd still call you TH

oh barca havent stopped yet by a long stretch. we def have intentions of going after yaya toure. and we have approached lyon for abidal but i think lyon wanted more than what barca offered. deco is more than likely going to inter. roni will stay.

eto'o is staying
ronaldinho is staying
rijkaard is staying

belletti and possibly giuly or sylvinho are reportedly involved in a swap with chivu 12m euro, deco will probably go, bayern were looking at him before all this and kaiser said we will sign 8, we've signed 7, so who knows, toure apparently signed with barca already, barca still looking at jorge andrade which means some dead wood will be leaving at the back *cough thuram? cough*

I don't know how he'll do but I suspect he won't be as good as he was for Arsenal.

Speaking of the Gunners, they'll struggle big time.

lol, the Ruud vs Henry rivalry is entering a new phase. First at Man Utd/Arsenal, now at Real/Barca.

If Ruud is anything to go by, Henry won't have too much trouble, injury permitting. Ruud is half the player he was in his first two or three seasons at Man Utd, and he was still La Liga's top scorer. Henry is also past his peak, but I expect him to still rip the La Liga defences apart.

What a crock of sh!t.. If anything, Ruud is twice the player he was at Man U, because:-

A - he has added other dimensions to his game and is no longer known as a "tap-in specialist"
B - In Spain team's play real football, and as a result, Ruud's movement and intelligence has indeed multiplied.
C - He was 1 goal away from the Golden Boot - in his first season, despite playing in front of a midfield which was impotent for half the season. He never came close to the Golden Boot at Old Trafford.

Secondly, Henry will not "rip" La Liga defences, as again, defences are far better in Spain technically. If anything, he'll be the same Henry that gets the ball in deep and uses his pace. But he'll need more than just pace: he'll need intelligence. I'm predicting - injury free - Henry will bag around 10-15 goals and no more.

Obviously you are one of those that think EPL defences are better, but what you fail to realise is that Spanish teams offer far more attacking potency than a hoof from the back. I would like to see the EPL's best defender - John Terry - in a league characterised by pacy forwards (Robinho, Villa, Eto'o, Forlan, Navas etc.) rather than "target man" forwards (Crouch, Bent, Viduka, Berbatov etc.). Then we'd see how great he is...

be a barca fan thierry, the grass is greener at camp nou.

im not too sure about this signing, although i guess now that we have the 2 best strikers in the world who can stop us, the answer is barcelona.

we will have to fit eto'o, henry, ronaldinho, messi, deco, xavi, iniesta into the midfield to forwards, with henry or eto'o likely to miss game time when we wanna go with the 1 striker, we are bound to have problems, and rijkaard isnt exactly the best medium.

but oh well ill stop whinging, we just signed the 2nd best striker in the world, even tho i cant stand him lol.

*Looks at final La Liga standings* Stop you from what exactly? :D

This Henry signing doesn't change anything. In fact, our president claims he was offered Henry for around GBP20 M earlier in the year, and given his final sale price, I'm inclined to believe him (for once)...

The Spanish league is tougher than England by a long way. The depth of teams from 1-20 is evident with the all Spanish UEFA cup final and Henry won't have the little plodder teams like in England to boost his tally.

He'll be considered a flop unless he comes out gang busters. My measuring stick? Ronaldo's record season. For years people have called this guy the greatest player in the world, well it's time to prove it.

I've always really wanted to see Henry play in the same team as ronaldinho because their both players who can set up team mates as wel as beat 5 defenders and score a wonder goal. With Ronnie, Henry and Messi playing in the same team I imagine a few la liga defences will be abit nervous

Yeah, if he can only score 33 goals in the league Barcelona will have to consider him a failure.

lol

For years this is exactly what the likes of yourself have been FAILING to do, given that he "only plays in England". Also, of course, he's never won any of the major awards. If Henry fails it shouldn't prove anything to detractors like you.

lol absolute gold

Ruud goes good in England, then he goes good in Spain, and it's not because the leagues are of a similar standard but because Ruud suddenly became twice as good when he went to Spain!

You and I both know that most of those awards mean f**k all. 90% of them are given as popularity votes, rather than who has been the actual deserved recipient.

As for Henry, I will be interested to see how he gets along with Ronaldinho and co.

"Where wez Ronnie? Where wez Eto'o? I didn't zee dem"

Exactly. TH isn't exactly Mr Popularity. It's evident from the amount of bagging he gets, and his failure to win the big shiny awards, which is exactly my point. You can't go around saying "people are always saying he's the best player in the world, well now it's time for him to prove it" when the likes of the person making that statement are the very ones who have prevented him from ever being regarded as #1 in the world.

(and of course because his move has coincided with him hitting 30 and coming off an injury...not great indicators that a player is suddenly about to prove how good he is)

If Henry doesn't score 35 goals in la liga this season i'll be disappointed. I've been led to believe that the English league is superior to any league in the world and Henry has been the pin up boy for all those years. Infact, let's raise the bar higher, let's say 38 goals because the Spanish league is piss weak and is void of good players.

All the good players play in England so it should be easier than scoring against W.B.A

Who says that? I've heard alot of Englishmen say their league is better but never heard one say Spanish football is piss weak, maybe they say the defences aren't as good over there but that doesn't make it piss weak. Anyway, Henry could be a complete flop for Barca but it would mean nothing for English football. If anyone tried to turn that into a "English football is overrated" you could easily use Forlan, Morientes as examples to counter it. All it would mean is that Henry is more suited to England.

Talk about arguing against a straw man

There are many more people who think that La Liga is better than Premier League than vice versa. Why do you think Henry has been snubbed for all those major awards over the years? Why do you think he never really comes out in front in "best player in the world", or even "best striker in the world" discussions?

I've never heard ANYONE make the point you're making, but I've heard umpteen people say that scoring goals in the EPL doesn't count...especially if your name happens to be Thierry Henry :?
