AFL sides raid Ireland!

Carlton have signed young Cork hurling star Setanta O hAilpin. O hAilpin was born in Sydney to an Irish father and Fijian mother but the family returned to Ireland in the late 1980s. He was named Young Hurler of the Year but is taking a big step moving to Aussie Rules. He will initially be on a rookie contract.

It is rumoured that other clubs are looking at Irish stars but it's not clear if there's any substance to them. Western Bulldogs have been linked with Steven McDonnell, Sydney with Sean Martin Lockhart, Brisbane with Ciaran McManus and Melbourne with Graham Canty.

hurling is a bit different to afl
wouldn't be surprised if afl raided gaelic football players but hurling is way different

Setanta excelled as a hurler but was also on the Cork U-21 gaelic football side.
