Australia to tour Pakistan for first time in 24 years

Australia have dug themsleves a big hole that they have almost have to travel to pakistan to restore their own reputation.

Pulling out of another away series will be disastrous after we pulled out of south africa last year.

We haven't travelled for a test tour since 2019. Yes there is a global pandemic. But CA has to grow some balls and help these other countries out. We bend over backwards for India and England but leave the rest to rot.

Outside of T20 WC our 3 overseas white ball tours last year to Bangladesh, West Indies and new zealand we sent b-grade teams.

Considering our top cricketers get a million plus a year from CA some of them only played in the WC outside of Australia not including the IPL.

So these are our next tests.
You would think that the XI who played in Hobart plus everyone who played a test this summer, except Harris, will go (Hazlewood, Neser, Richardson) just based on having to take a bigger squad due to covid.
Throw in Swepson and we're up 16.
Probably need a reserve keeper and another batter.

So 18, 8 bats, 6 pacemen, 2 spinners, 2 keepers.

Then we'll see if anyone wants to drop out.

the other keeper will be interesting, as long as they dont take a backward step and take Wade

has to be Ingliss or Phillipe

Really looking forward to this tour.

The drop outs will be interesting. The effect it has on the team as well as the opportunities it will give to other players.

Harris getting dropped for hobart has probably got him a ticket going to pakistan now as a backup especially with covid anything can happen at any time.

Where if he played and more then likely had another double failure probably would have ended it.

Jyhe rested ? He has hardly played this year

Richardson has been selected for the upcoming five-match T20 series against Sri Lanka but he will be rested for the three-Test tour of Pakistan, which begins in March.

“These conversations have always been positive, there’s never been a negative word said regardless,” Richardson said.

“It’s making sure we’re in the best place possible to play for the next 10 years, and making sure the body is right and 100 per cent moving forward.

“It would be exciting to play Test cricket in the subcontinent, it’s a big challenge.

“But for me now the focus is most certainly on the Sri Lankan series with another T20 World Cup coming up.”

Langer’s future is still uncertain despite helping Australia secure the T20 World Cup crown and a 4-0 Ashes triumph.

Richardson, who played under Langer at WA, wants the veteran coach to be rewarded with a fresh deal.

Our bowlers play less than ever and always seem injured or sore, blokes like Walsh,Hadlee and Akram used to play all year round and never seem to get injured very often. But but but but but sports science.........

I get this bad sense we are going to pull out of going after reading a few articles in the past week.

It is being reported that players seem to be getting a bit more twitchy about going doesn't help that lahore had a bomb blast last week.

Great article from Geoff Lawson.

Australia owe pakistan by going over there.

After England and New Zealand pulled out last year. If Australia do as well it will set pakistan back another 5 years and no major team will tour there.

Pakistan also owes touring teams safety.

It's a two way street. The security concerns are a bit overblown, to be fair, but they do exist and it's poor of Pakistan to pretend they don't like they have in the past.

Well obivously but right now there are heaps of international cricketers playing in the PSL.

England for example have 20 odd cricketers over there right now and 8 of them are getting there from the windies in the T20 Squad. So we are talking about international cricketers.

Yet the ECB pulled out of a 2 match T20 series last year with basically the majority that are now there.

So why is it safe for a T20 comp but not a international tour.

Is it more to do players are there for themselves not there country.

I'm only playing devils advocate: I think the threat is overstated and the tour should go ahead.

But how many international audiences are currently watching the PSL? How much of a target is a T20 comp no one knows is happening and where the imports are basically all semi-pro grifters?

The fact is Pakistan has allowed and fostered this kind of activity for a long time now and they also need to accept the consequences of that. People will be reluctant to go for a long time yet
