Just a couple of considerations:

1. Asotasi's try was off a forward pass.

2. Normally Covell can kick them from anywhere.
The first one was very difficult, but the next 2 he
would normally kick with his eyes closed.

3. Mr. Bean had a particularly bad day (and not all against us)

Put 1 and 2 together and we would have a 16-10 win.

This is not to say we were impressive. We were quite unimpressive.

Several calls and the bounce of the ball went against us.
At present we are not good enough to beat another team when the
bounce of the ball goes against us.

But we have been competitive in every game we've played.

We lack a certain edge, a cerain flair, a knock-out punch.
But we are solid, and competitive, which is heaps better than
last year.

There is no particular player who is a problem - it's the team
cohesion that's lacking. That may or may not develop this year.
BUT I still think we're a better team this year than last year,
even though at this point we were running third.

KEEP THE FAITH. GO THE SHARKIES!!!!

I know most of you think I'm

With our current coach we've got more potential than we did last year but you know what they say - those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Are we learning?

Bullshark, I'm quite prepared to accept the thrust of your argument. Yes, we haven't lost many games by a lot. Yes we generally defend well (strangely better against better teams for some reason).

However, I can't agree with the assertion that we are competitive. I can't get to many games, so I follow on the radio/internet, but it generally becomes painfully obvious after about 20 minutes that we aren't going to win. We were NEVER going to win this afternoon, regardless of forward passes etc etc. Same last week, and a handful of other games that spring to mind. The tight margins merely highlight our defensive capabilities.

I think this just highlights the problem we have - we SHOULD be competitive given our personnel and our coach, but we aren't. I want to know what management is doing about it.

We have no attack of which to speak. There is no way we can be competitive if we can't score more than three tries a game...

I learnt long ago. Don't know about the boffins at Shark HQ though.

Again out come the apologists and warm and fuzzy/fluffy band.

We were f*ckin woeful - end of story.

I've said it before. It doesn't matter one flying f*ck if we lose games by just a few points. At the end of the season when we're not in the 8 or just sneak in, it isn't good enough to be competitive.

It's 06 repeating.

I agree we have been close in every game and the potential under Ricky is there but it is just not happening , and what do we do ? Nothing !! the team is the same week in week out with maybe a winger changing . Its no good being close . We 0ffer nothing in attack and lack creativity , were too predictable , our forwards can hold their heads high as can our defensive efforts but we just cant flaming well score !

I also agree Hempstead was a joke inconsistent especially around the ruck , flops from Souths went un penalised and as for the first penalty against birdy was that a delayed reaction or what ??

Yes. We have learnt defence which we haven't had for years.
We now have to learn attack which we may or may not achieve this year.

Although we lost, surely you agree that today we tried some different
things. Our style is changing and that's going to take a bit of
re-arrangement.

We'll look different in attack when Kearney comes back - but we need
more than one strike weapon

It was just a flat pass.

2. Normally Covell can kick them from anywhere.
The first one was very difficult, but the next 2 he

Goal kickers find it hard to get a good footing in those conditions.
I think he should be cut some slack today.

3. Mr. Bean had a particularly bad day (and not all against us)
He hammered us in the penalty count.
Looks like the boisterous Souths fans swayed him.

Yup!

Several calls and the bounce of the ball went against us. We were no wear near the bounce of the ball actually!

True.

We lack a certain edge, a cerain flair, a knock-out punch. Yup!

There is no particular player who is a problem Oh I think one ball player may be dropped for next week. Plenty of tries scored because of his defence and passes going to ground when the money ball was required. LET HIM GO TO ENGLAND! it's the team
cohesion that's lacking. YUP!That may or may not develop this year.

Bulldogs game will decide whether we make the eight!

Another great 'near enough is good enough' fan.

I had greater expectations at this stage of the season from Ricky Stuart.

I'm not saying that near enough is good enough.

But all I expect from this year is that we finish the year better than last year
because last year we were so awful at the end.

I am saying that we can make the 8 - although I'll be surprised if we're
better than 7 (or lower than 10). I see a lot of good things in the team
but the good things are all separate - we haven't got a good team, but
we do have a good squad.

Will Ricky mold a good squad into a good team? Dunno, but I continue to
believe (been doing it for 41years, so I'm pretty good at it now)

you seem upset koth

you obviously had high expectations

disappointed, yes

we're 8th, and actually four points from last

i havent blown up until today...but i am concerned that those in charge are not learning from the lessons of the past few years, particularly in attack

we have a problem in the halves and you'd think ricky stuart would be the man to fix the problem

unfortunately we've seen minimal change

Could you expand on these different things? I didn't see them. I saw the same inside out plays. The same ring a ringa rosey plays and the same aerial incompetence.

What was different?

What's this different style that is obviously so complicated a bunch of supposedly talented first grade footballers can't get a grip on it?

Please tell me. I need reassurance.

We are sh!t and will continue to be until

(blanked out until moratorium / monotorium is lifted)

And those that don't want to admit it, will never be swayed.

Its like the pisshead attending AA, youse just got to stand up and finally admit it.

Then we can go about fixing the problem.

Currently being a Sharks supporter is like being one of choc Mundaines early opponents. You knew you were never going to win nuffin' but at least you turned up.

Fink I'm gettin' a bit punch drunk - usually happens bout this time of the year.

Ive taken a lot of head shots, but no low blows yet.

Cheers

I won't be looking for any f**ken positives until the team gives me something to be positive about.

We have been competitive in every game, problem is sometimes the other team was absolute sh*t and so were we. That is nothing to get excited about.

Also unless we get the 2 points being competitive means NOTHING!!!!!
